Taking Clofazimine: How often do you get your vision checked?

For those of you taking Clofazimine how often do you get your vision checked?

When I was on Clofazimine for a clinical trial (with no other meds), I did not have my vision checked because Clofazimine does not jeopardize vision. It is Ethambutol which is known to possibly do this, although the majority of people do not have this side effect. By monitoring their vision, their doctors can take them off the med as soon as effects are noticed. Clofazimine causes temporary skin discoloration and can also cause digestive upset in some.

Clofazimine can cause retinopathy. My doctor ordered a baseline eye exam. I will check with the doctor but I just thought I would check with those who have experience with this medication. Thank you.

Retinopathy is extremely rare with this medication but doesn't hurt to have check ups

Hello,I have been on clofazimine since last June. I started getting visible skin discoloration about two months ago- everybody is asking me where I tanned. I do not know how "tanned" I can be until it starts bothering me. I think I neglected putting sun screen during winter time and that's how my skin, mostly face, got orangy. So now whenever I go outside I put sunscreen on my face. My ID doctor said its still looks accaptable. Clofazimine does not cause eye problems, its ethambutol- and my eyes are checked every 1-2 months. I hope it helps.
