Pulmonary function test before and after cure
Hi, I’ve been recently diagnosed with Mac and bronchiectasis. I had pft and I have a mild obstructive pattern, especially at small airways level (FEV1/FVC 70%, FEF 25/75 50%, FEF 75 30%). My DLCO is at the lower limit too.
Anyone else has this pattern? If so, after therapy (big3) did you see any improvement? Thanks

What is your FEV1 by itself? It is a very important number.
An FEV1/FVC 70% is not too bad assuming you are over 60.
Have you had a 6 minute walk test?
Numbers are numbers, how do you feel upon exertion, stairs, exercise, etc?
Treatment for MAC is to eradicate the bacteria, the lung damage is permanent but manageable.
Best of luck -Rick
@rstel7272 My FEV1 is normal , but I’m 44 and I’m not smoker, so PFT should be better… I hope that if inflammation improves also the obstruction can improve, but maybe it’s not possibile…
Get rid of that MAC. Mine was diagnosed may too late at age 60 and I developed cavitation that can cause more trouble than MAC. I would do anything for PFT numbers like yours.
@rstel7272 I have cavitations too. They are small (< 2 cm) but diffuse. How is your cavitation? Why is it causing problems? Are you free from MAC now?
3x5 cm, lined with scar tissue. Now contains an aspergillus fungal ball, currently treated with vfend. Stable for 16 months so far. Prior resection failed, risky lobectomy is on the table.
