At what size do you remove a minimally complex liver hepatic cyst

I have a minimally complex liver hepatic cyst. The cyst size is 13x12x12cm. The cyst is probably not cancerous. How large do you let these get before you remove them? I do have some stomach bloating and have trouble taking deep breaths but do not know if this is causing it. I also have two smaller cyst which are less than 2 cm.

I had a ct scan because I had a low grade fever that did not go away for three weeks. This picked up on the cyst and then they did ultrasound. CRP was 51 but this may be due to the fever which had just stopped

i'm sorry. but did you mean the CRP was 51 or 5.1, either way. that's too high. from what i just Googled. from different Orgs.
i understand you had just gotten over a high fever. but that's still too high. what did the doctor say or do for you? d 🏳️‍🌈

It was 51mg/L but this was taken the day after I had a low fever with night sweats for three weeks. He said all blood test were acceptable. Infections cause this number to go high.

he said acceptable. i don't know. but it sure sounds strange to me. i understand the low grade fever. but was it really necessary to do that the next day after the fever? d 🏳️‍🌈

It just happened that was the day I was scheduled for the follow-up for the fever. It broke the day before.

He developed body itching which lead to blood work and then US. He was given meds for the itching and his levels have gradually gone back to normal. From my reading they usually do not surgically remove them but may aspirate the fluid from the cyst.

My surgeon asked if I had any symptoms. I do have trouble taking a deep breath. I have to get a MRCP to check the bile ducts and he is going to remove some of the skin of the cyst. Some of the skin is part of the liver and he is not removing this since it would require removal of liver.

I had the hepatic cyst removed on June 4. The surgeon took out the portion of the skin of cyst which was not in contact with the liver. This way I had none of the liver removed. I am able to breathe deeper than before. I did not realize how much my breathing was restricted. Best wishes to all.
