Zoledronic Acid (Reclast) can I have just one infusion?
I had a Zoledronic Acid infusion 2 weeks (feeling fine). My spine average is -3.7 with my L3 at -4.2. I am a 56 yr old, otherwise fit and healthy, post menopausal woman. Wondering, if my scores improve by next year with weight training, can I stop getting infusions or will I get worse if I stop the drug?
Would I get worse because I took Zoledronic Acid and stopped, or just get worse as if I hadn't taken it all?
I'm wondering if I've taken a "no looking back" drug.
I hope my question makes sense.
Thank you,
Andrea

Yikes, I’m surprised they said it’s OK. I was told to have my teeth checked before the infusion and get any dental work done before hand. Jaw necrosis is a terrible thing!!!
Dentist said the same thing.
Agreed
No, the dentist never mentioned that the tooth might crack during the root canal I’m waiting to hear from my endocrinologist before I decide to proceed with the infusion.
I hope so you're doing everything right!
Hi
When my spine fractured in 2022 January 22nd three of my teeth fractured within 2 weeks then I found out it had osteopenia I have done three infusions I have had many Dental appointments with no issues
My brother had the same thing and after the root canal the fracture was bigger and had to have it pulled.
My endocrinologist did get back to me and told me to follow my dentist’s advice and to get in touch with him two months after my root canal.
Thanks to everyone who responded about their experiences.
Replying again, I've been tracking my calcium in the Cronometer app (highly recommend) and have found I'm getting enough through food which was my goal. My ND wants me between 1000 - 12000 mg calcium a day. If you love yogurt it's not hard tot do. 🙂 I will supplement at the end of the day if needed to boost it up.
I’ve taken alendronate sodium tables for 3 years but recent DEXA scan shows loss of bone density in the hip. My Endocrinologist recommends switching to Zoledronic Acid (Reclast) injection. I’m 82 years old and am hesitant due to possible side effects. Would appreciate knowing the experience of those who have taken Reclast.
I took Reclast in January for the first time - no side effects.
