Anyone taken Evenity (romosozumab) for Osteoporosis?

Posted by arlene7 @arlene7, May 27, 2020

Has anyone taken Evenity? I understand it’s only been on the market for a little over a year. I’m hoping it will help with my severe osteoporosis. Any information is helpful.

How is your ALP after switching to Evenity?

Still slightly elevated. That may keep my dr from putting me back on Forteo.

Hi jillgirl
Within a couple of days of my first set of injections, I got a cold sore. I hadn't had one in years, so I knew it was related. It just seemed like I was the only one with this reaction.
Mine actually wasn't very bad, because I use a European lysine cream that helps if you put it on as soon as you feel the tingling. I also take collagen peptides everyday--they include lysine. Last week, I had my second set of injections, and, thankfully, so far, no cold sores.
Have you only had the first injections so far? Let's hope our outbreaks were a one-off.

Thanks for replying! I took my second infusions today. I was advised to take half of one Valtrex pill to prepare for a second blister outbreak. Before the outbreak I was feeling as if I had a virus, then wham! They think it is related to Sjogren's, an autoimmune condition I have. I can assure you the drug companies had zero persons with Sjorgen's in their testing/control group for Evenity. I reported the incident to the drug company. Wishing you good luck.

@windyshores Hi !! Always look forward to reading your posts, though I've not been here for a while. Looks like you moved on from Tymlos to Evenity? We had a back and forth about medication sequencing (I was on Prolia for many years—no side effects). In November 2022 my endo switched me to Reclast, the drug I vowed never to take again due to a horrific reaction. I've now had 2 rounds (2022 and 2023) with no side effects from either infusion. Round 1 helped my spine but L hip remained the same. Hopefully something more will kick in from the Nov. 2023 infusion. Supposedly I'll go to Evenity next November. From there, who knows? Wishing you the best on that mid-month appointment.

Hi giannam! I am so so glad to hear that Reclast has been so tolerable. Glad you came back and keep us posted!

I am sending you a PM.

I have had two doses of eventity so far. I do experience the sometimes overwhelming fatigue and also increased joint pain. I have aso noticed that I feel very anxious as well as brain fog and some memory loss which is not my usual mental state. Makes me think evenity may be the cause but the literature gives little info on this possibilty. Have any of you had such reactions with the evenity treatment?

Anxiety yes. Brain fog, memory issues and weird dreams, yes. But they eased up after a few doses. For me, what did not ease up was burning, prickly sensations. I did not have joint pain or fatigue.

ps I had COVID 6 weeks before and still wonder if the memory issues were from that

I did not have the memory problems before this. I am thinking to try the next dose yet and hope some of my issues start to resovle as it is hard to function at this point. Thanks I do appreciate any input. I was also very leary about starting the regime because the purpose may seem good but the side effects make me wonder about the chemical's affect on the rest of my body.

Hi, Check out the other threads on Evenity and you will find quite a bit of information. I never experienced the fatigue, brain fog or amxiety issues but did have quite debilitating joint pain which began after the 6-7 months of treatment. Completed 11 mos and couldn't take not being able to move without pain in muscles and joints-hips were the worst but every joint right down to my fingers to one extent or another. Hope all goes well and the information on these threads are very helpful. You know "you" best so don't discount how you are feeling.

Finished a year course of Evenity in February with no side effects (though hard to tell side effects from just 81-year-old aches and pains). Dexa scan + blood work show significant improvement. Now on first shot of Prolix so will see how that goes.

Hi:
I will add my experience with Evenity. I had a compression fracture in December, 2021 and started Evenity in 2022. It was great until month 5 and started with fatigue, brain fog and rash on my scalp and ears, cheeks. I also had joint pains.
I stopped after month 8, then did a Reclast infusion November 2022. I had some gains but still osteoporosis in lumbar spine.
I’m going to Osteostrong now and not taking any medicine.
Hoping that helps - no other fractures since.
