Healthy eating
Has anyone noticed after feeling the pain of costly diets we walk out of the Grocery store with 3 bags of groceries 125.00 worth and then run into the group of girl scouts selling cookies? Of course add another 40-50 dollars to that grocery run lol. ( you have to have humor lol )..David

Who can what healthy eating is? For some it is vegan; other vegetarian; other paleo, etc. etc. etc.
The only consensus I have heard is the Mediterranean Diet. Nonetheless for me it is eating what you like, only less.
And for some the grains on the Mediterranean Diet are disruptive.
Hello, I’ve switched to a Mediterranean Diet. For me it’s like almost being a vegetarian. I avoid all red meat, pork, processed foods and limit my dairy. I switched to this diet as a way to keep my prostate cancer in remission. Testosterone is a fertilizer for prostate cancer; conversely, my diet keeps my testosterone level low. This is what hormone therapy and radiation does, without the nasty side effects: radiation (burning my cells) and hormone therapy (poisoning) my body.) I don’t see these choices as good options. I’ve been on a Mediterranean Diet now for one year. I’m grateful that my metastasized cancer has remained in remission for far and I’ve felt good and full of energy.
Hi I just started the plant based diet. I've been feeling better. More energy, less aches, less depression... anyone out there tried this diet or is on it? Please let me know your thoughts and feelings
Whole Food Plant Based is the best health remedy for me by far. It has help with my aches and pains as well. I started in 2021 because my family doctor wanted me on statins to control my triglyceride level that was very high and my borderline cholesterol. I was also adding pounds since I did turn 60 at the same time, had heart palpitations and LPR. The diet change was not easy at the beginning but you get fast results. I lost 40 pounds and I had never had any issues with blood pressure but I watched my lab results and had drastic changes, the cardiologist, who I started to see because the palpitations scared me, said I did not need to keep coming to see him as I was now at a very low risk for heart issues in my future if I continued on the same path. I know I won't live forever but I know all of us want to stay as healthy as we can to enjoy our later years. That's my goal and I want to say that the cardiologist who was old school also changed his diet to not completely plant based but vast improvements. The Plant Based lifestyle is perfect for me because you don't feel deprived. I have to watch some plant based foods that I eat because of the LPR which does still spring up if I consume anything with vinegar or lemon.
Good luck and after the food cravings go away this is the best diet option for a lot of people.
Healthy eating is not the same for everybody. In my case, I can' t eat fruit. Of course I am bombarded by many saying you have to eat fruit because it is good for you. But it is not good for me because I do not feel well after eating fruit. You have to find your own path and not be browbeaten by those who think they know better than you what is good for you.
You are right that healthy eating is not the same for everybody. One thing I can offer is that gluten and sugar are not good for anyone - information from my doctor and her nutritionist, that I have worked with for quite some time. If you read about how wheat is grown here in the US vs. Europe, it is eye opening. I can eat wheat products in Europe, but need to be gluten free in the US. Gluten disrupts the gut lining and I was diagnosed with SIBO due to my GERD and found I was gluten intolerant. And sugar is not good for any of us - we can substitute with organic Stevia in coffee or tea and reduce the amount of sweets eaten - take a look at the ingredients and see how much sugar is added to a product - I shoot for 15% or less when I need a treat. There are plenty of brands out now that produce much healthier options for those of us looking for them.
