My husband just was diagnosed with a-fib.
What have others experienced with this diagnosis?

Good for your weight loss, and it may even prevent ever having an issue with the dreaded A/Fib. My system for avoiding ice cream is to avoid that section of the store. As far as wine, it has zero fat, which, as you know, is much unlike ice cream. We shouldn't give up the joy of wine; life is short, particularly at my age!

So true! I have been treating myself with Nonfat greek yogurt and Carb Smart chocolate bar (ice cream). It has a little fat, but fits in with my total plan. I prefer a nice glass of Malbec. Lol.

Cecia16, Pinot Noir is the healthiest, at least they say! I, too, eat nonfat Greek yogurt. Let's stay healthy, my friend! Good for you on eating these non-fat smart chocolate bars. Please give your dad my best, you too.

Watch this "Sugar The Bitter Truth

Note only is ethanol/wine bad for you heart but it gets metabolized exactly like sugar(ice cream). Wine is not fat free. When the body has too much sugar via ethanol metabolism it stores it by turning it into fat. Yes ethanol= fat. Listen to the whole 90 minutes and it will change your life about sugar and metabolism and fat.

I agree with what you're saying, and no doubt, sugar does kill. I once read a book, Sugar Blues," & it was convincing to cut down sugar to a minimum. I was passionate about that for a while, not so much now; but I consume very little sugar; I never use it on cereal, etc. Yes, anything with sugar is unhealthy, empty calories, zero nutrients, etc. I appreciate your input on this. The YouTube article was good. Thanks, Harvey.

A previous post mentioned several studies indicating negative outcomes with the Watchman. I would like to review that data but cannot find the posting. Can anyone help with locating the post? Thanks

I had an ablation done and that has successfully taken care of the a-fib.

I am not being snarky when I answer it this way: It is like asking the question what is it like to be diagnosed with (fill in the blank) say breast cancer. There is a full spectrum of diagnostics, treatment options and outcomes starting with how experienced is your MD/EP and how up to date are the diagnostic tools are they using to map determine the conditions of your heart and mapping it. How good are the surgical facilities and how good is the doctor. Age of the patient and co-morbidities such as other heart conditions, diabetes, diet and family history all are factors that can affect outcome.

Diagnosed in 08/19 when HR locked on 170, took a trip to ER and overnight stay to return to more normal HR. I then wore the monitor for 4-7 days which recorded a spastic heart. six months later, 02/20, I had the ablation procedure at Vanderbilt. Since then, I have worn the monitor two times with no recorded AF episodes. MY initial EP was a big believer in Eloquis which I was on for three plus years. The initial EP left and the new EP in the summer of 23 took me off Eloquis because of the two post Ablation monitor "no AF" results. I would take the advice of several previous replies and learn everything that you can about the condition. Be an active participant in your ongoing healthcare.

FYI: I got generic 5mg Eliquis from Canada for $250 for 3 months. I used the Canada Drug Warehouse site and it was mailed to New Mexico. Does go through a Custom's check.

I, too, though am trying to figure out the eliquis, metoprolol and flecainide effects on me with my new Afib diagnosis. I am reading the posts with great interest.
