Prostate and Bladder Issues: What to do?
I am a 68, nearly 69, year old man that has had bladder issues for years. I had green light prostate surgery 8 yrs. ago which helped for a while. Now, my prostate has had some regrowth and I have developed several bladder diverticulum. I have had just about every bladder test possible. I also have some incontinence issues, and manage by wearing diapers when necessary. I'm ok with that. My urologist had me on a combination of tamsulosin and finastride, but have not realized much of a difference. I'm a bit afraid of some of those drugs because I have read that they could mask the development of a more serious prostate cancer.
My urologist suggests that I may be a candidate for surgery, but what kind? Turp or total removal of the prostate? I have also read that turp sometimes needs to be repeated. Don't want that to happen either. What to do?

Hope you are doing wonderfully better. I had Rezume ( i suppose it is what you called Aquablation) procedure last year, ( paid form my pocket) had some complications quite a few stones round and small that came out, dead tissue as well. Now finally it is good, it takes at least 6 months.
Could I please have the Easy way book . I don t smoke but very close friend of mine 73 years old can not quit.
Thank you so much
Sure! I'll send it right away. Congratulations on your rezum procedure!
I am so sorry to bother you again, somehow I could not properly down load it . Could you please kindly send me the easy way book again.
Thanks you so much
I requested a recommendation from the Pyronies specialist and was told something like, we don't do urology, you have to call urology for an appointment.
I was very happy with my care and direction in.the pyronies visit. And was surprised I couldn't get a referral for my urology issues.
.I was less than impressed with the Pyronies specialist I saw at Northwestern in Illinois.
I'm not sure who to ask for a reference from there.
I was very happy with my urologist Dr. Dan Dammrich at Northwestern. Northwestern. I thought I messaged him for a referral. I'll have to check if he ever replied.
Since the Multiple Myeloma specialist at Mayo didn't seem to want to be involved in my treatment for that I switched to St. Louis.
I might check there for a urologist.
I really don't know what to do to help myself.
So far giving up and living with it hasn't been working out so well.
I don't trust my local Drs. Or any drs. Much. I was in the hospital for 4 days being treated for muscle spasms when I had 4 badly broken ribs. I clunked when I walked. You shouldn't ought to clunk when you walk.
They never looked at the X-rays they ordered. Stevie Wonder could have seen the broken ribs in those pictures.
At Mayo my shortness of breath was diagnosed as asthma.
A nurse told me that asthma was not my problem. I had very minor asthma.
I requested more testing. Some asshole walked in the room and said, "I've reviewed your records, You have asthma and walked out."
I wasted 20 hours of driving for that I was undiagnosed for years.
My issue was heart related. Possibly in combination with MGUS or smoldering Myeloma.
I've had many bad reactions to procedures and am scared to do anything but live with what I have.
I've been kept overnight for several procedures that were supposed to be outpatient.
I had a reaction to a catheter that left me numb for a very long time. I'm still not right.
I should have sued.
I got absolutely no help from any medical so-called professional on the issue.
Have you considered seeing a physiatrist? They generally look at the bigger picture, rather than focusing on the one thing that is a specialty. Worth a try. If you can, look up the doctors online and read their reviews. Maybe a doctor you trust would steer you to the best one.
You have quite a history. It might help the doctor if you wrote down as much of your history as you can, with any dates you remember, and the things the various doctors said about what they thought was wrong.
Sounds like you need to press on until you find a doctor you can connect with.

I was very happy with the Pyronies specialist I saw at Mayo - unlike the butthead I saw at Northwestern.
I was very surprised and saddened that she didn't give me any kind of referral or direction for my urology issues.
Seems the issues are closely related
Do you have to have a referral? I see specialists on my own with no referral. If you know of a good urologist, you might just call them and make an appointment.
Jim
That was the problem. I don't know anyone. Which is why I asked for a referral.
I have previously had good results asking Drs that I liked for referrals.
Thank you so much I am so sorry I somehow managed to lose the email and would really appreciate if I could have the Easy way book again please . Thank you ever so much
I had Holes laser on my prostate 3 weeks ago. I recommend it. Easy recovery. Catheter overnight only.
