Recurring Shingles: Any ideas to stop them recurring?

Posted by kelrad1217 @kelrad1217, Mar 21, 2020

Hi! I hope I am in the right place. I am searching for someone who has had similar issues to mine, or for someone who can steer me in the right direction
I am a 43 year old female who continues to have flare ups of what my doctors say are shingles. It starts the same every time. I feel as though I'm getting the flu with body aches and chills, but I never get a fever. Then I get severe headaches, with a few blisters that pop up on my scalp and temple and forehead. The pain is unreal and goes on for a few days to a few weeks. I get these flare ups several times a year, but the nerve pain seems to stay with me most of the time. Has anyone ever heard of shingles doing this??? I am really getting desperate for a solution to this painful problem

The generic Valtrex is valacyclovir.

I made a long post about this yesterday under the discussion about CBD (even where to buy it at a lower price than some rip off sites) so I won’t repeat it but just to say CBD(Hemp) oil with less than 0.3% THC stops that awful crawly electric pain of shingles in seconds. At first applying the oil over the affected area lasted 24 hours but now I am having to apply it several times a day. Still worth it. There are no hallucinogenic effects.

I don't have a crawly feeling and instead have hot knives jabbing me. I also have painful muscle spasms on my back. Unfortunately CBD hasn't worked for me. Thank you for the info though.

So sorry!! This is such a painful disease. At first I would have described the pain as bolts of lightning. I guess I am lucky b/c the CBC IMMEDIATELY stops the pain, as soon as it’s rubbed in. I really hope your situation improves and will be thinking of you and wish you healing.

YES, I HAD SHINGLES FROM 2013 THRU 2021, 8 YEARS OF HELL ALL ON MY BUTTOCKS, WHAT SOUNDS LIKE YOU HAVE IS NOW POST HERPETIC NEURALGIA OR CHRONIC PAIN SYNDROME, WHICH IS NERVE DAMAGE FROM THE SHINGLES. SOME PEOPLE TRIED KETAMIN INFUSIONS. WHAT WORKED FOR ME, IS LARGE AMOUNTS OF VITAMIN C. DOCTORS BEST BRAND. SOME TIMES I TOOK LITERALLY 25-50 1000 TABLETS A DAY. HOWEVER MY LAST ATTACK WAS 2022, FOR JUST THE 2 WEEKS, I HAD JUST MOVED AND LOST MY HANDBAG. STRESS CAN BRING THEM ON.BUT AFTER 8 YEARS, I FOUND VITAMIN C. ALSO TERRASIL FOR SHINGLES, ITS A HOMEPATHIC CREAM, YOU WOULD PUT IT ON THE AREA FOR ABOUT 3 HOURS, THEN PUT ALOE VERA GEL, AND ALTERNATE 4-5 TIMES A DAY. ITS VERY EXPENSIVE, BUT EBAY IS THE CHEAPEST. IT LITERALLY SAVED ME.HERE IS THE LINK.HOPE IT HELPS
