Anyone have constant heart pain with shaking/pressure in lungs/chest?
I have had numerous normal EKG’s and I know my heart is damaged somehow. I had pericarditis back in 2022 after getting COVID but then the tachycardia and pressure/pain went away. Does anyone know of anything that helps? This symptom seems to be getting worse instead of better. The cardiologist keeps telling me my heart is fine and to take a beta blocker for the tachycardia. Does anyone have a better solution or any thoughts?

Hi @seekingsupport. I too have had similar frustrating symptom journey going on 3 years as many others it appears on all these type of forums. I also see on this forum and for myself improvement in certain areas while juggling the everchanging new and old ones. For this reason, may be helpful to keep simplest symptom/activity/and vitals journal you can to show your doctors possible varied range of tachycardia, pain, pressure you are experiencing. This will help them to treat your symptoms without affecting another one and also hopefully help you see the numbers lower as you improve. 🤞 Healing to you🌈
I feel your frustration. Pericarditis is my latest long Covid challenge. Took a couple of frustrating trips to ER, but then my nurse practitioner figured out what was happening. She referred me to a cardiologist who concurred with her. My discomfort is also tightness and pressure with some radiation to the left shoulder, and jaw, and back, palpitations and difficulty catching my breath and profound fatigue. It is brought on with very minimal activity. I am on long acting Metoprolol now which seemed to calm down my irritable heart somewhat. Currently waiting for scheduler to call me to have a coronary artery angiogram CT before starting treatment for the pericarditis. I have two other autoimmune diseases, Morphea scleroderma and Polymyalgia rhuematica, since Covid infections, so figuring out what is causing issues is very frustrating. Wondering is it the illnesses or is it a medication issue? Some people find low dose Naltrexone helpful for long Covid. It is an off label use, but seems to work for some.
Peace and healing for us all ❤️🩹
You should have a D Dimer test done if you have not. This identifies pulmonary embolisms, deep vein, and shallow vein clots. Some of your symptoms are similar. I had three PE (s), one DV clot (thrombosis) groin to ankle, and four SV clots (thrombosis). Causwd by Sars CoV - 2 (Covid 19).
Been suffering for two years with pericarditis after covid. Extreme pain on right side of heart has lessened after taking ramapril for a year. Echo has shown some improvement. Cardiologist wants me to stay on it another year and will redo echo at end of year 2. Family Doctor prescribed antinflammatory Naproxen and it did help reduce the pain. Heating pad also helped as lying in bed was the worst. Year two now and the pain has gone.
I've had long covid for 2 years now, formerly very healthy other than took thyroid med for 35 years with excellent results. Long covid caused terrible GI issues, thyroid problems, cardiac arrhythmia, chest pain on left side that radiates into my shoulder and back, chronic fatigue, sleep problems, lost 15 pounds as could barely eat. In July had my thyroid removed as cardiologist and endocrinologist thought that was source of heart arrhythmia. Thyroid removal does seem to have helped heart arrhythmia and I've been able to eat again and gained back the 15 pounds. Had an echo cardiogram 4 months ago showed NO pericarditis, and the chest pain finally mostly went away BUT recently I got cold type virus that lasted 4 weeks and now I have AGAIN the left side burning chest pain that radiates to my left arm pit and shoulder and upper back, particularly when I lie down, so now my sleep is once again interrupted. My cardiologist suspects pericarditis, and prescribed colchicine that gave me upset stomach and diarrhea, so my MD had me do a chest xray to see if I had pleurisy and he said that would show if I had a raging pericarditis, it showed no pleurisy, so MD said stop taking the med for pericarditis as it was making me feel so bad. I'm not sure xray would show pericarditis or not? Does anyone know? I'm thinking maybe I need to do another echo cardiogram to see if I have pericarditis? I've spent half of my life waiting to get doctor appointments and then waiting sooo long for them to have openings which I'm sure all of you go through. I have Rheumatologist appt in MAY I've been waiting for 6 months for that one. Its also suspected I might now have Sjogrens as yet another autoimmune condition brought on by long covid! Id love to try monoclonal antibody as it has helped some long covid people but no access to that. Has anyone else had symptoms like the chest pain come back after getting a virus? Has it gone away? Sorry about long explanation but who else seems to really understand what we are going through other than the people on this site?
