Vick’s Vapor Rub for Neuropathy Pain

Posted by avmcbellar @avmcbellar, Nov 29, 2020

Has anyone tried rubbing Vick’s Vapor Rub on their legs or arms for neuropathic pain? I wonder if it would feel cool on the skin with the burning pain. It would certainly help soften the feet.

I use Vicks on my feet at night with socks on and morning massage my feet with Vicks.
It feels okay for a while. The symptom is still there but the intensity of the pain seems to be much less. I also use "Mineral Ice".
I buy at Walmart much cheaper than elsewhere.

Vicks Vaporub works for me . I have neuropathy on my right foot and ankle.
I apply it every night before bed and then put on thin bamboo socks. My neuropathy , burning and stinging is greatly reduced enabling me to sleep .

I agree with you. I wanted to thank John our Mentor for posting a link when I first came to the group. I found Vicks Vapor Rub helps with the tingling. It isn't as strong at night. I found also before when I slept on my side with my knees together the tingling would start, I also have used a pillow. Lately when I go to bed I have been propping my head up and laying on my back. I can sleep most of the night and not have the problem I was having before. I also read something about capcasin cream is also good. I just bought some today will see if it helps.

Hello @myrnalf55, I see you have been following Connect since 2020 and this is your first post so I would like to officially welcome you to Connect! It is a great place to share experiences and learn what has helped others. I haven't used it for neuropathy numbness on my feet but have used it for many other things. My most memorable miss use was rubbing it inside my nostrils instead of on the upper lip to help open my sinus. When I was a kid we always got a chest rub to help us breathe better when we had a cold so I thought it might work well in the nose...NOT. 🙃

Do you also have neuropathy?

I have used the brand Capzasin/capsaicin .01 at night for a few days. It was even better than the Vicks. You have to be careful because it leaves the heat on your hands after washing. You might use plastic gloves. Don't touch your eyes.

Really prefer Bio-Freeze gel, available at Amazon or Medical Supply store. It stops the burning feet the best for me. Treetop

Does anyone know why everything seems worse at night? Maybe I’m just not noticing symptoms as much in the day. As soon as I crawl into bed…neuropathy symptoms appear

I've read this trick numerous times and even tried it. It doesn't work.
Everybody has a different idea of what to use. Most things work for awhile and then do nothing. I know.
