Does anyone find that a type of shoe helps your foot neuropathy?

Posted by lorirenee1 @lorirenee1, Mar 25, 2019

I am on a constant quest for shoes that don't kill my feet due to the neuropathy. I find that Spencos and Wolky shoes seem the best. Are there any other suggestions? Shoes can be just crippling for me. Horrid.

Yes!!! FIT FLOP…..they have a site . Been wearing them for 25 yrs….total game changer!….your feet imprint in them and it corrects the differential from one side of the body to the other so you are getting great posture which takes down the pain …for me…none……! Also they have wonderful shock absorption……so get the original one….they’ve come out w thinner versions but forget those. And lastly they have a wobble board in the bottom of the dense heel, which keeps you from tipping…..!!! And thats a Godsend for me.!….they come in slip ones, or sneakers, boots dress shoes…you name it….I live in Fl so love all the open toed ones! …..they have a medical clog thats awesome in white and black….legal in hospitals…..and heavily used for anyone working esp on cement floors. I use them for slippers and outdoor shoes. They are on amazon . they originated in UK and thats the home office. I bought from them too on their site and went super well. I’ve had over 40 surgeries due to Ehlers Danlos and these shoes have helped me to sail through all the surgeries on my joints. Once you imprint in them remember not to let anyone step in them…..that imprint is yours only. And the arch support is awesome……Good Luck!

I do not have pain but my balance is the issue. Do they or can you tell me if they help with balance and to what extent have you experienced that help. Thank you, Charles

I try to drink 60 ounces of water a day for cramps. And most of all I try to eat a banana every day, for the potassium.
I have also had calf cramps that made me cry in pain. Good luck.

I wear Aerothotics. They are sandals. I have several pairs. The only shoes that keep me pain free most of the time. I not only have neuropathy in both feet but they are so terribly arthritic my podiatrist, after treating me all he could, sent me to the pain clinic. Whichever disease is causing my pain, Aerothotics remedies it.

Hi Charles. I’ve had over 45 surgeries for Ehlers Danlos which is a collegen issue that makes me uneven from one side of the body to the other so balance is a huge problem with one side being always shorter. These shoes, once imprinted corrects that difference and allows you to be completely balanced. The wobble board disc in the bottom of the heel also aides tremendously as does the shock absorbing quality of the dense sole. My husband needed two fusions on his spine but started wearing them….never had to have surgery. And neither one of us risk wearing any other shoe. Nor does my sister w severe arthritis. Try them…..they are easy to return if you don’t feel great in them!. I’m in my 70s so I’ve worn nothing but them for nearly 20 yrs! Terri….

I live in Brooks, shoes from the Brooks Shoe Company. They come in more sizes and widths and styles from lighter weight to more supportive, plus all have a removable insole so your own orthotics can be used maing a good fit is possible. They have a "If you're not happy, we're not happy" guarantee that allows any shoe, for any reason, to be returned within 90 days for full refund. You have to give an explanation of why the shoes didn't work, but this does allow a trial period. Good luck!

After a lot of trial and error. I discovered the best shoes for me are actually running shoes. Marathon runners like a lot of cushioning in their shoes and I find it helps my feet. I see someone replied about the Brooks shoes and I totally agree, I am currently wearing the Brooks Ghost 14 and they are very comfortable for me. Also try the New Balance More v4 shoes they are the max Fresh Foam X cushioned shoe. It's like walking on clouds.
Finally, look at the Ortho feet website. They have sneakers, slippers, socks and more for people with a variety of conditions. I hope this helps.

I, too, live in Brooks running shoes, although at 83, I'm not a runner. I wear Brooks Ghost and a different shoe with a bit more structure and support, the Brooks Adrenaline. Please go to http://www.brooksrunning.com and use their Shoe Finder, which is in the middle of the first page to come up. It will help you sort through their large selection of shoes. They do have a "If you're not happy, we're not happy," guarantee which allows a purchaser to return shoes, even those that have been worn, for up to 90 days. They do require an explanation of how the shoes didn't work out, and why the delay in returning them. I used that guarantee when I found that the size I'd worn for years was no longer an appropriate size for me, and I had two pair that were fairly new, had been worn, and that I could no longer wear.
