Unusual ECG's

Posted by grainsofsalt @grainsofsalt, Jan 26 9:25am

Hey guys,

Thanks for taking the time to read. I've been having unusual ECG's on my smart watch, and my watch actually alerted me to A-Fib at several points. So I went to see a doctor (well they sent me to a PA) and she said it's just PVC's. But she did put me on a 24 hour Holter monitor, and the specialist said it was somewhat inconclusive. I guess he felt there may have been times where I was in A-fib, but it could have also just been "interference".

A couple days ago I was having chest pain and shortness and breath, but they said it was just PVC's again and that I was psyching myself out. They put me on some beta blockers to help, but they're not really helping. And when I google "PVC ECG's" they look different than what mine is throwing up.

Any ideas? Thanks!

Maybe you can do a month long patch monitor if available. It is a small patch put on your chest.

Thank you, that sounds much better than a month long holter monitor. I will look into it.

I don't see much variability in your rate, so it's not fibrillation, and I do see missed beats, but no make-up beats, so it doesn't look like PACS. That kinda leaves PVCs.......or.....

Thanks. They're just super frequent (PVC's like the one showed every five minutes or so) ... and annoying. But if they're harmless, guess I just need to learn to live with it.

My patch monitor was still bulky and would not stick with the taping it came with . You still have to carry the little cell phone around w/ you as well . I wound up putting the leads on for 12 days and having the small monitor on my bra and carrying the cell phone thing .
It’s quite a pain ( plus you have to change the leads pads every few days and take it off daily when showering 🧼.
I agree this person needs to do a heart ♥️ monitor or halter monitor for more than 24 hours though. I would also get second opinion.
I take Heart Calm ( supplement) .. Google it .. to help calm the pvcs and PACs .

@rozy my patch monitor had no leads, wasn't bulky and didn't have a cell phone thingy! I didn't take it off at all. It was for a month.

Have you had your RBC magnesium levels checked? It may be nothing, but the heart likes a steady supply of magnesium, and some/many people just don't get enough...depending on where they get leafy greens, how much they eat of it, and if it's replete with magnesium due to soil enrichment (soils these days have been badly depleted in commercial contexts). If you're not sure, I would recommend you start with a daily dose of about 200 mg of Magnesium Citrate (the salt that is the most easily taken up by the human digestive system, although there are several other salt varieties of magnesium).
Please do run it past your GP or other professional care-giver before you modify your diet. If it turns out to be the case, it's easily and quickly corrected. But check first!

I get frequent PVC's and I was put on the B/P med. Metoperlol. 50 mg. It cut them in half. I went to a Cardiophysioligist. Hes the one you see for that problem

That's what I ended up doing, and I got similar results, thank you!

They ran 3 blood checks on me, but I don't recall if Mg was on there. However of the tests they ran, they came back normal. However, I will mention that, thank you!
