Neuropathy - No cure but can we prevent it?

All of us with neuropathy are focused on what we can do to provide relief for our symptoms but maybe we should also take a look at finding ways to prevent neuropathy. I thought we might be able to glean some information from this upcoming webinar.

Is there any way to make non-diabetic neuropathy go away once you have it? It’s too late for me for prevention.

There is no cure but there are many different treatments that may provide relief for the symptoms. I've mentioned these before but in case you haven't seen the list on Foundation for Peripheral Neuropathy's website - https://www.foundationforpn.org/treatments/.

There are also many different discussions on Connect of treatments members have tried and shared their experience. Sounds interesting John. I guess for most of us it is too late to “prevent” it, but I’m going to hope it might offer insight on things to avoid to help further agitate what we unfortunately already have. I’m going to try to see if I can listen in. Thanks for sharing!

The webinar should be available on YouTube or their website after the webinar is done but I'm not sure when. I'll post a link to the recorded webinar so others can also see it. I'm registered for it and hopefully will be able to listen in.

I am very fortunate as I am recovering from non systemic vascular neuropathy thanks to my amazing neurologist. I live in Sydney and he was The only one who had seen this problem before and was able to cure it.
I had a foot operation and my immune system kicked in to protect the nerves in my feet. Unfortunately it started killing the nerves instead. It’s been a long and painful journey but I am so grateful. My warning as my neurologist suggests is to avoid foot and back operations the surgeon may touch a nerve which may activate your immune system resulting in damage to your foot nerves. As happened to me. I was unlucky for this to happen so the doctors say. I would not wish the pain I have had on my worst enemy. So pls tread carefully. Take care all you people who are suffering I feel deeply for you.

from my Neurologist unfortunately the damage is done now I’m just maintaining but my pain never shuts off every time my heart beats a 10+ pain comes with it 24-7 7 days a week

I’m so sorry. Is there no way the nerves can be repaired. Is it the nerves in your feet that were damaged.

I had bacterial Spinal Arachnoiditis it attacked my nervous system damaged my small and large fiber nerves small fiber some will repair large won’t I don’t feel hot or cold sensations and I was diagnosed with MS 6 months ago if there is a cure I’m all ears because I’ve been like this 4 years now pain meds is the only thing and no more cutting that’s a no no with this disease i just know I’m in pain all the time it don’t stop no shut off
