What did you do to help radiation burn?
After lumpectomy & lymph node removal (margins & nodes showed no cancer) I had 15 rounds or radiation in 3 weeks. At the end of treatment two weeks ago I developed a rash on my chest from the radiation. It’s very red & itches like crazy, which makes it hard to sleep. I’m using over the counter cortisone cream & Aquaphor for the dryness. Has anyone had success with other ways to treat this while waiting for it to heal? This site has helped me tremendously so thank you to everyone!

I had really bad burns from radiation. It was purple and extremely painful. I found after I was completed, Aloevera with lydocaine available at Wallgreens. I put it in the fridge and it helped tremendously!!
It will get better!
So sorry you're going through this and my guess is I'm right behind you. I'm very fair (red hair) and 57 yrs and have had few bad burns in chest area in younger days. My radiation onco prescribed Mometasone Furoate .1% Ointment. I've only used it once (last night) - I have 7 more radiation treatments - I just think ointment is hard to spread and so oily and honestly I feel like I have to scrub to get off the residual before the next radiation treatment. But maybe since you are finished with radiation it would be helpful. It's a steroid (pretty mild) - I'm back to just aloe get as cooling relief feels best but thinking Miaderm might be worth a try as many have mentioned on this site. Good luck.
Lidocane 4.0% helped me some.
I used Cilcalfate+ de Avène per recommendation of the radio-oncologist.
I used My Girls Skin Care. (10% Calendula) It was recommended by my oncology radiologist. I used this after each radiation treatment. I was told not to use it prior to treatment. I had 4 weeks of radiation with a boost. I had a minimal issue with burns.
You can order this online and there are some hospital gift shops that stock it.
I am going to use it again with my next round of radiation treatments.
I have been using Mometasone Furoate .1% morning and night and Vanicreme in between.
If you are large-breasted and the radiation is directed to the underside of your breast the ComfortSlings products are game changers in protecting your skin. The company sells both slings, with cushions on adjustable straps that tuck beneath the breast, and cushions without the straps to tuck inside your bra cup.
I began using a ComfortSling the day I began radiation, wearing it as many hours of the day as possible, especially at night while I slept. Several times during the day I lay on my back and applied colorless, odorless gel to my entire breast, including the underside. I remained in position until the gel was fully absorbed (it took seconds), then immediately tucked the ComfortSling beneath my breast. With continuous protection from moisture and abrasion, the need for other products was virtually eliminated. By my treatments' end, my skin had darkened slightly but was otherwise unchanged. When I was out and about, I tucked a cushion inside my bra. The slings and the cushions virtually eliminated the accumulation of moisture beneath my breast and protected my skin from the rubbing and abrasion of skin-to-skin contact. By my treatment’s end, my skin had darkened slightly at the radiation site, but was otherwise unchanged. I had no pain, no broken skin.
If you have already begun your radiation treatments, the sling will still go a long way toward preventing further irritation and pain. I can’t recommend these products enough! Good luck!
I have sensitive skin and was prescribed mometasone to be used after each treatment. I start radiation therapy in a couple of weeks. Having had issues with steroid creams in the past, I looked for some info online and came across the following interesting article:

My radiologist nurse gave me a script for SSD 1%. Sulfadiazine cream. It worked Immediately. Good luck They give this to firemen’s for burns
The SSD cream is what my doctor gave me and it really helped my skin to heal.(6-23) I still moisturize daily. Even though I am Italian descent with olive skin. My skin was almost purple. It took over a month to heal
