@lioness thank you.. but trying to get another Dr to see you after you have had surgery and want help with something that is wrong with that is not so easy, I tried .. and driving so far away is not an option,, I dont want to trust our car to make it,, thanks
Yes right after Thr terrible groin pain for over a year now it moved to thigh pain and knee pain
Now 2 years post surgery and still very painful when I put pressure on my hip or leg. I did due diligence with PT 4 times.
@normao I wish I had the answers for all of this,, but its not in our head,, there are too many people on here with the same problem,, I had less pain before the surgery.. so sorry you are having this pain,, but unless you have this pain,, you have no idea what its like living like this..
I just joined and I'm happy to find out I'm not alone with this pain on my thigh after an anterior hip replacement. Had I known that Gabapentin is almost the same as Lyrica, I should have taken the leftover of Gabapentin from a previous prescription. Copay for Lyrica is atrocious. I had my surgery 4 weeks ago and I know its too soon to complain about the pains. I hope it goes away soon so I could walk faster and longer without any pain. God bless us all.

<p>Hi I have just had both hips replaced. First was July 19, 2015 right side. The second was January 21, 2016. Directly after surgery to my left hip in January while I was still in the hospital I had very severe shooting pains on my right thigh. It was also a burning sensation and numbness. It went from my belt line down to my knee. There were times it was so painful the shooting pain it was almost unbearable. This lasted for at least 2 weeks. I tried a TENS machine but did not help. Then I went to family doctor and he diagnosed Meralgia Paresthetica. He gave me prescription called Teva - Pregabalin. He said this was a medication for Shingles. Anyway I also spoke with my surgeon and he never heard of a situation as to mine. Where the right side was affected by the left side surgery. Anyway the medication has dulled it slightly and have been taking it for close to 1.5 months It is still quite bothersome and painful at times. Just wondering if anybody has had this and if can suggest any help. Also had one session of acupuncture. Did nothing. Would really appreciate any help on this. Thanks Lots. Cheers. Dave</p>

I have had x-rays, ultrasound and CT scan, and the only thing discovered was quadriceps strain and bursitis. I just had injection of the area of bursitis... which did seem to help a bit but not a great deal. My physio suggested that my replaced hip could have loosened. I am on Lyrica. Although this helped a lot in the beginning, it seems to be wearing off. Am off tomorrow for a 2nd surgical opinion. Can't go through life feeling like im being impaled when going up and down stairs. I wish you well. Hope you get sone answers. I know it's terribly frustrating to feel like you aren't getting the answers you need.

I am hooping to find answers as well,, there are so many different views and opinions of what is wrong with us with this thigh pain. read some of the "opinions" on here and you will see what I am talking about.. I had a bone scan that showed "loosening".. You mentioned a "failed open reduction/internal fixation".. what is that..?? thanks for sharing and I hope you get some relief..

Hi there, frister. Thanks for your reply. A failed open reduction/reduction (ORIF) was the initial procedure I had immediately after my fall. All the hardware failed and I was in terrible pain. I went for a 2nd opinion today, which turned out to be extremely frustrating. I was told that hospitals use different companies for their prostheses and I must go back to the surgeon who did my hip replacement. I replied that it was too far for me to travel and wait for 3 to 4 hours to see this person. The doctor again insisted thst I had to see the original surgeon ASAP. I explained that my health care was in my hands and i wasnt going to be told what to do anymore. After more arguing, he decided to perform blood work to look for infection and a CT scan to look at the placement of the hardware. He also mentoned neuroma...not really sure what that means. As i was a medical transcriptionist for 25 years before i fell and broke myself in several places, I can decipher the Latin and Greek roots. However, i dont understand what it specifically means in relation to my pain. When looking for answers, please don't allow your physician to push you around. I was told for 6 months to wait and give it time. I truly hope you get the help you deserve and are entitled to. Let me know how things go for you.

Carolg absolutely right we are our own health advocates Dr,s dont know our body ,we do, if it hurts you stop and see someone else DON'T be affraid to get a 2nd opinion
