Thank You

In the HABIT Healthy Action to Benefit Independence & Thinking Program® we have always strived to provide the most evidenced based program to all of our participants.  That means, when we offer an intervention to you, it is because there is a proven, scientific basis to it.  Well, we could not do that if not for the hundreds of you over the years that have volunteered to provide us with information in our various research studies.

Thank you...

For filling out seemingly endless packets of questionnaires about how you feel, think, and respond to the various interventions we give.

For being willing to participate in a program where you only got part of the interventions and not others.

For coming back for all of the follow up visits and filling out those questionnaires again!

For driving 2 hours to have a brain scan....twice!

Because of you...

We now know things like ALWAYS give the MSS calendar training and ALWAYS offer Support Group.

We know that Quality of Life is what you value above all other outcomes.

We keep making this program better for those who have participated after you.

We can share what works and does not work with others in presentations like

Outcomes from our PCORI Trial Presented in Italy

Outcomes from R01 Presented in St. Augustine

And in papers like

R01 Impact on Daily Functioning Results

R01 Caregiver Outcomes

We value all of you, and greatly appreciate your part in making the HABIT Healthy Action to Benefit Independence & Thinking Program® what it is today.

Hello - I am newly diagnosed (May 22, 2018) with ICD 10, Mild Cognitive Impairment. I am curious what the DSM-5 (or other sources) equates a MCI diagnosis in terms of WIAS-IV FSIQ
equivalent. I thank you in advance. Dr. Ron Rubenzer. Former School Psychologist- Columbia University NYC.

Hi Dr. Rubenzer - There is no set FSIQ associated with MCI. And really, it is not a matter of overall intelligence, but a matter of decline in ability in at least one cognitive area: most often memory. So, it is more often a below average performance on at least one memory task, like the Wechsler Memory Scale IV rather than a WAIS. Hope that helps and thanks for the comment!

I can’t tell you how uplifting it is to receive acknowledgement for my attempts to help and learn from others. I was lucky enough to help other folks recover from Heart Attacks and Strokes, and to endure (and conquer) cancer. I was young then, and learned a great deal by having to help others help themselves. Ironically, I ended up on the receiving end of
Medical treatment, and now I share a bird’s eye view of being a patient. It is much easier to Give advice than to take advice. But I am grateful for every “more valuable” day. I honestly feel that my life was spared for a reason. I was called a “miracle man”, holding my own. I want to pay forward some small tips. My motto is “everyone’s life success is my goal. Make today count.
