New Volunteer: Leslie Drake

Aug 26, 2022 | Sarah Palmer | @sarahpalmer

Meet Leslie Drake, one of our newest MCVP volunteers! A Mayo Clinic employee, Leslie joins our team of No One Dies Alone (NODA) volunteers who sit bedside as a comfort to patients in their final hours. She will be serving on NODA vigils at the Rochester hospital campuses.

Q: Are you originally from the Rochester area? If not, where else have you lived?
A:I grew up in Urbandale, IA.  My husband and I moved up here in 2016 when I took a job in surgery here at Mayo Clinic.

Q: When you aren't volunteering, what else do you like to do?
A: I enjoy knitting, crocheting, reading, and taking care of my pets! We have a cat, two dogs, and three parakeets. They keep us pretty busy!

Q: What three items would you take with you to a deserted island?
A: A boat so that I could escape the deserted island!

Q: What is your proudest accomplishment?
A: I recently graduated with my masters degree in cardiovascular science and started a new job as a perfusionist here at Mayo Clinic.

Q: What is your favorite thing about Mayo Clinic?
A: I love the people and the teamwork here. I've never had a job that I enjoy going to like I do when I come to work here!

Welcome to the team, Leslie!
