Transplant is often referred to as a “second chance at life.” But some patients, like Nellie Betancourt, got two second chances at life. Nellie was diagnosed with hepatitis C virus in 1995, and by 2002, the disease required her to have a liver transplant. But her hepatitis wasn’t done wreaking havoc on her body.
