Over the course of the Lung Cancer Awareness Month (November) we have shared information regarding lung cancer which included patient education, general statistics, and survival stories. Although we spend 1 month out of the year really focusing hard on this disease, the fact of the matter is we need awareness all year round. We also need to continue to learn about the diseases of the lungs. Clinical Trials are often thought of as something you enroll in when you already have a disease or when the diagnosis has a poor prognosis, but this is not the case. Please take a minute to review our Chest Surgery Clinical Trials Tab and consider reviewing eligibility criteria for the numerous clinical trials currently being studied at Mayo Clinic. Through clinical studies, which involve people who volunteer to participate in them, researchers can better understand how to diagnose, treat and prevent diseases or conditions.
