New Volunteer: Carmen Kane

Please join me in welcoming new volunteer Carmen Kane to the MCVP team! After retiring last year from a 44-year career at Mayo Clinic, Carmen has decided to continue to serve Mayo as a volunteer. She will be visiting with inpatients at Methodist during her hospitality cart shifts.

Q: Are you originally from the Rochester area? If not, where else have you lived?
A: Born in Chippewa Falls, WI and moved here to Rochester at 11 months. I lived in St. Cloud from 19676-77, then lived in Kasson from 1977-80. I have been back in Rochester since, with 36 years in the same house.

Q: When you aren't volunteering, what else do you like to do?
A: Travel, spend time with my grandkids, swim, walk, and read

Q: What three items would you take with you to a deserted island?
A: Chocolate, coffee, and a visor

Q: What is your proudest accomplishment?
A: Earning the Diamond Quality Fellow Award, and the Maude Finch Community Service Award

Q: What is your favorite thing about Mayo Clinic?
A: Keeping the needs of the patient first.
