Please welcome Austin Dorenkamp to the MCVP family! Austin and his sheepadoodle, Piper, are our newest Caring Canines team. Austin and Piper will be visiting patients at Methodist and Saint Marys to lift their spirits. 🐾
Q: Are you originally from the Rochester area? If not, where else have you lived?
A: I was born in Rochester (dad worked for IBM, mom worked for Mayo), but I grew up in the Twin Cities (Woodbury) for most of my childhood.
Q: When you aren't volunteering, what else do you like to do?
A:When I’m not volunteering, I love driving (cars, boats, snowmobiles, lawnmowers - pretty much anything with an engine)!
Q: What three items would you take with you to a deserted island?
A: A satellite radio to call for help, and a Tom Clancy book, plus a DQ Blizzard to enjoy while I wait for rescue.
Q: What is your proudest accomplishment?
A: Getting a 4.0 with an engineering degree in undergrad.
Q: What is your favorite thing about Mayo Clinic?
A: Knowing that a world-renowned institution is located here in my hometown!
BONUS: My sheepadoodle (Piper) and I typically roam the halls of Mayo Clinic on Tuesday afternoons (3-5pm) with Mayo Clinic’s Caring Canines program, so please say hi if you ever see us!
