We’d like to wish you all Happy Thanksgiving from the Todd and Karen Wanek Family Program for Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome!

In honor of Thanksgiving, we’d like to take time to recognize some of the things we are thankful for during the past year. First and foremost, we are thankful for all of the individuals and families who have participated in our program one way or another. Participation has ranged from taking part in the research to help change the future for HLHS children to helping to spread the word about our program and HLHS awareness or to just being a part of the HLHS community. Either way, we are grateful for people like you! We are thankful for all those who attended our third annual Feel the Beat event either in person or online through social media. We changed up Feel the Beat this year and the event was quite the hit! We had a few special guests including Dr. Chris Moir, Mayo pediatric surgeon, Joslynn Jarett-Skelton, author of Charlie the Courageous, and Ethan Bortnick, the famous 14-year-old piano player! We are thankful for our team of dedicated doctors, researchers and team members. We are lucky to have people working around the clock trying to find a cure for HLHS.

The Todd and Karen Wanek Family Program for Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS) is a collaborative network of specialists bonded by the vision of delaying or preventing heart failure for individuals affected by congenital heart defects including HLHS. The specialized team is addressing the various aspects of these defects by using research and clinical strategies ranging from basic science to diagnostic imaging to regenerative therapies.
