Contestants are asked to write a novella using 1 or more of the following fundamental themes of the Mary Shelley novel Frankenstein:
- The Other: disability, differences, and disenfranchisement
- Humanity’s response to technology: creatively expanding horizons and possibilities; using technology to solve human problems.
- Creativity and the responsibility for what has been created.
- Vengeance and futility
- Community: what it means to be human; what is the measure of humanity?
