November marks National Family Caregivers Month, a time dedicated to recognizing and supporting the millions of family members who provide essential care for loved ones in need. In the United States, more than half of those providing care don't recognize themselves as caregivers. National Family Caregivers Month was established to raise awareness of caregivers' sacrifices and challenges. This month honors those who support family members, whether managing chronic illnesses, disabilities, or aging-related needs.
Many caregivers balance these responsibilities with their own lives, often sacrificing personal time, financial resources, and well-being. Studies show that caregivers are at a higher risk for stress, burnout, and health issues, making it critical for communities to provide avenues of support.
In November the Stephen and Barbara Slaggie Family Cancer Education Center is acknowledging their dedication with acts of kindness by providing activities throughout the month. Visit Cancer Education: Events | Mayo Clinic Connect to learn more about activities happening on Mayo Clinic campuses.
Heart felt Kudos to my husband of 27 yrs for his care and dedication to me and our NET journey. These last 3 years have been drastically different in challenges for us, but he has been there for me. I know I haven’t always been cooperative and some black days were hell. I am grateful for the good days, try to muster abundant hope and persistence to transmit positivity every day. Thank you Don for helping me each day… you are the BEST! I love you!
