Description

Caring for the Caregiver Support Group meets weekly on Thursdays from 12-1 p.m. MT (Find your time zone.)

This is a group specifically for those who care for a loved one- regardless of their medical issue. This group was formed as a way to connect, share and receive support from others navigating the often overwhelming journey as caregiver.

All caregivers welcome. The group is for caregivers, so we respectfully ask that patients not attend. Currently the group meets virtually via Zoom.

I was a caregiver for my best friend and I miss him so much and now my dad really does need help as he's facing radiation treatments from prostate cancer and he doesn't want to admit that he needs help. This is meant as a joke as it's a coping method for me but I have a feeling his dying words when the day comes (hopefully an extremely long time from now) will be don't bother calling anyone I'm fine just let me get up and get back to work instead of making me stay here at the hospital when I could be working...... I'm so grateful for his being a fighter but I don't know what to do to get him to admit that he needs help so I try to tell him it will help me if I can get to do things for him because I'm severely disabled but that's a big asset as a caregiver and companion as I understand easily so many things people are going through but my dad's determined to see me as a child and I don't know what to do I miss being able to devote myself to someone as best as I can as a caregiver and companion but I can't find a patient who needs help. If anyone who reads this is in Maryland especially near Montgomery County MD and needs help please please please 🥺🙏😥🫂 respond I have so many tips and tricks for making the crazy life of having someone very sick and getting worn out easier and easier that id like to patent actually but I'm sort of like Peter Pan I'm 47 and never got to do traditional adult stuff but I learn quickly and love to learn. If anyone has an idea of how to get my dad to realize that he's not Superman nor the Energizer bunny that keeps going and going and going please please please let me know how to have the correct type of conversation with him and other people who are in need as I miss taking care of someone and giving my life meaning again..... All of you are in my prayers and thoughts as I thank you profusely for your help and support and time!! Margaret
