Y-90 liver cancer treatment: What's your experience?
I recently was treated with y-90 on a tumor in my liver. I am interested in knowing of others that have had experiences good, or bad, and of long term results. I have had prior resection of the liver to remove a tumor but a new tumor surfaced in a different section. I am hoping the y-90 will prove to be a more permanent solution. Thanks

I had an amazing IR doctor and had no pain following the procedure on Jan 31, 2025. I have had one CT in May which showed some necrosis & an MRI is scheduled for late July. My NET specialist said that 6 mos should show the full effect of the Y90. BTW, the mapping procedure was done prior to the Y90 as a test to be sure my tumor was receptive to the radiation beads.

2 ReactionsI had liver cancer and had what you are calling y90 treatment. It took two treatments to stop the cancer, which also drove me higher on the transplant list (I had NAFL and Cirrhosis).
The treatment for me was painful after with compression at the injection spot
What is mapping you guys talk about? I just had CT scan and then the treatment.

1 ReactionI have liver cancer too. They already did the mapping I’m scheduled for the NY 90 at the end of this month. I’m a little nervous. I just hope it works.

2 ReactionsI have nonalcoholic cirrhosis and liver cancer. I had Y90 mapping procedure a couple of weeks ago with Y90 procedure scheduled for next week. Mapping was not bad at all except for laying flat for a couple of hours afterwards. Ready to get the radiation beads inserted to start shrinking my 4 cm tumor. I am already on the liver transplant waitlist.

3 ReactionsThank you. I will talk to my deratologist.
My husband got relief with light therapy, prescribed by a dermatologist after topical creams and lotions didn't take care of it. It's non-invasive, highly controlled exposure to, I think, UV-A and B rays. He had it twice a week, and after a few months the itching was gone. (I had the same treatment for a skin condition not related to cancer. It worked, after nothing had for 4-5 years). It's worth asking about.
My IR physician told me she didn’t expect me to need her again after my Y90. It has been 2 weeks & my CT scan is not until May. I am feeling good except for fatigue & rest when I need to.

3 Reactionstry some aloe vera gel. You can get it in most health food stores. Don't buy the stuff that they put dye in - the actual gel is just clear
I had Y90 in November 24. The results were very good. I had some complications that were pretty tough for almost three months but my situation was unusual according to my Drs.
Has anyone had any issues with EXTREMELY dry, scaling itchy skin after the procedure? I could scratch myself until I bleed it is so bad. I use lots of high moisturizing lotion but that only helps for a short time. Some of the areas are actually painful. Any suggestions?
