Worried/ tonsillectomy
I’m new to this site….but I just had a tonsillectomy done 3 weeks ago and my uvula is touching my tongue and making it hard to swallow…affecting my mental health as well because I’m upset about it. Anyone else have there soft pallete be really low? And did it ever go back up? I am 28 years old

You might talk to your surgeon, it is pretty easy to shorten the uvula. It could be swollen from the procedure, but three week seem rather long for no improvement. Mine was swollen and lenthened after endoscopy and took several week to be comfortable. I had a relative who was kind of swallowing his uvula and had a little procedure. Another relative had too much taken from the uvula and has some discomfort swallowing because of that. Don't get it removed, just shortened. A steroid injection would reduce inflammation.

It could be due to swelling and scarring. Have you gone back to your ear, nose and throat specialist post surgery yet? Did they also remove your adenoids? Are you taking any anti inflammatory medication and does drinking cool/cold drinks or foods help?
Yes, he said to give it 3 to 4 months and to call if it’s still like that but I was really hoping to find someone who had this happen to them. He said I was healing still, I’m still red and yes, I got my adenoids out too. I think he shaved them a little or something. I’m not taking anything anti inflammatories
