Wondering how to compare Dexa scan results from new provider

So, I’m currently seeing an Endocrinologist that I’ve started with this year who started me on Evenity. I have had 4 infusions for Evenity so far, of 12. Previously I was seeing a general internist Dr that had me on Alendronate . After receiving the results of my T-score on Dexa from same facility for 3 years I decided to seek the endocrinologist, starting on Evenuty. Then to be tested in June/July after completing the 12 infusion series.

A friend suggested me to see an alternative- or non-conventional medicine, or alternative medicine, &/or holistic type to maximize my bones and overall health. So I found an alternative and am also exploring what else I can help contribute to improve my bone scores and other weaker areas at 64 years of age.

So hopefully a more integrative approach so as to not only rely on drugs.

My previous scores were:
2022 T-score femoral neck -3.7
2023 T-score femoral neck -3.5
2024 T-score femoral neck -3.7
All while on Alendronate primarily

I do walk some and have done weight/resistance training-strong bodies program since last winter. Averaging once or twice per week and trying to increase to 2-3 times per week on weights.
The alternative clinic encouraged a Dexa scan with their own machinery. To which I gave into, even though out of picket. They claimed it offers more information and it coordinates with what they try to work on at their health center. (I am in the process of unraveling this yet).
So the Dexa test came back with a T-score of -2.2. While this would likely be a huge improvement I don’t feel confident that I should be too excited about it as it’s done in a completely different machine. So calibrations and settings might be different? I really don’t know? Does anyone have experience or knowledge regarding why the major change? There is a great deal of information in the report and I’m scheduled to go over(at least some of it with their dietitian shortly)

I'd be tempted to pay for if necessary another DEXA scan from your original provider. If both scans are similar, that would be wonderful. Otherwise I'd be suspicious...

@tillymack I agree with you. I am already suspicious,….
I will have the Dexa done at the same facility when I complete the Evenity series. I just figured it’s probably a false improvement result.
