Without Pharmaceuticals - is it possible?
Does anyone here know of any cases/research showing that severe osteoporosis can be combatted without the "bone drugs"? Can T-scores be improved with adequate nutrition, exercise, and BHRT?
For context: Daughter is 29 years old, diagnosed with osteoporosis at 18 years old. Most recent T-scores from DEXA scan show -4.0 levels -- severe case.
We want to avoid conventional meds/pharmaceuticals at all costs, but especially at such a relatively young age. We are interested in BHRT to address her low hormones (she never developed a regular menses even at her highest weight).
Thank you for sharing your knowledge and any relevant resources.
Blessings of longevity your way.

You may want to go to the main category of osteoporosis and check other ongoing discussions regarding osteoporosis and hrt and/or osteoporosis without medication.
Have you already discussed this with her gynecologist and endocrinologist?
@gravity3 Thank you for your reply!
We're in an ongoing discussion about this with her PCP; we currently do not have a gynecologist and are awaiting a response to her referral for an endocrinologist.
We were not impressed with her last OBGYN (nice person, just conflicted views regarding her health), who wanted her to take hormonal birth control at 20 years old or so as a treatment for her amenorrhea. She seemed standoffish about BHRT at the time; we've been looking into a telehealth clinic for BHRT.
@gravity3 I did search the forums, but will continue diving deeper. We've not seen much content on cases like hers (young women with early-onset severe osteoporosis and no menses), so I thought it was worth starting a new thread.

There is functional medicine also. However insurance might not cover.
Hi M, there could be an underlying cause of the osteoporosis that you want to find out even before discussing treatment. For example, I learned that celiac disease can be a cause of osteoporosis. Also certain hormonal issues (parathyroid), autoimmune disorders, etc. Good luck.
