~ Winter, depression, money ~

Posted by Barb @amberpep, Nov 17, 2018

I know that sounds strange, and I'll try to keep this short. Winter is always a bad time for me, the passed two days we just had a terrible ice storm and were without electricity for over 2 days .... that sure didn't help. I've change insurance companies and thought it kicked in as soon as the papers were sent in ... wrong, I was to have sent the first 2 payments, so I'm getting bills from my therapist and Psychiatrist .... big fat bills which I'll have to pay in increments. I also got a bill from the local Med Express when I had Cat Scratch Disease - still dealing with that. In short, there's just not enough money to pay for everything. I've got a budget that really frugal, and I don't know where to turn.
I think I know the answer to this, but if you don't ask the answer is always no, so ...... I've been divorced for 10 years (after a 40 year marriage), and at the time I had a hefty inheritance from my Dad. I went to an Investment Counselor who, unknown to me was running his own little ponzi scheme. By the time the SEC discovered it, none of us had any recourse ..... there went Dad's money or 9/10 of it. When I got divorced my lawyer told me that after 40 year marriage, staying home with 3 kids til they were out of the house, I could "skin him alive." (he's a narcissist) Well, since then I had the inheritance I didn't think it was right to do anything, so I didn't even go after alimony. After that came the ponzi scheme.
I'm seriously thinking of calling my lawyer to see if just the alimony portion of the divorce can be "revisited" so that he would pay me something each month .... I doubt it, but I'm going to try. Life is hard right now, it's winter, and sometimes it's just not worth getting out of bed.

@amberpep Abby girl things have been tough for you. The insurance on medical bills out to be retroactive. Where are your daughters in all of this?? I am disturbed that things keep going wrong. Two days without power is stressful enough without all of the other negative stuff. I would that I had some suggestions. All I can do is let you know I care, but caring doesn’t help improve things. Winter is a rough time and even rougher when things seem to be out of control. Medicare ought to be covering over half. We had the snow and ice too. Do you still have your dog?
Know there are those here caring even though it does not fix things. Hugs

Hi Parus ... thanks for your note. Yes, I still have my pup ... just found out she was born Jan. 25, 2018 so she's not even 10 months old yet! My one daughter and her husband struggle financally too, so she's the one I can talk to ..... the other one is like her Dad and sort of just ignores it when I say anything, so I don't. My son does send me money each month, which is a huge help. I couldn't live anywhere around here if he didn't.
