am trying to FINALLY make a decision between Tymlos & Prolia as starting treatmment for fairly severe osteoporosiss. Have posted here before but lost track! -- am 86 years old & have fairly severe osteoporosis. One fracture, a year ago in a wrist. My main concern about Tymlos is the necessity for a steady hand which I do not always have.

@goseve

Do you have any bad dude effects from Tymlos? I am a 66 yr old female with severe osteo and need to take meds but I have heard horror stories concerning these meds and I am so afraid. What are ur thoughts on Tymlos? Thank u

Don't know how typical my case is, since 'typical' doesn't really seem to apply to all this, does it? I've been on Tymlos only two weeks and I have the same side effect pretty much every night within an hour or so of the injection: very mild lightheadedness, which isn't constant but comes and goes through the night. When I get up in the morning it's gone. I do the injection betw 7 and 8 pm when I'm just sitting around doing nothing, so I'm not really hindered by the lightheadedness. Maybe if I was more active it would be a problem. I do hope I habituate to it, but if not, it's tolerable. I've also noticed more aches and pains in my hips and lower back. Wrists and thumbs, too. My arthritis has waxed and waned over the years so I can't say these are from the Tymlos, tho they are listed as possible side effects. So far, and considering the benefit I'm hoping to get, I'd say the inconvenience from side effects rates a 2 out of 10 on the kvetch scale. Keep in mind, if you start Tymlos and find you can't tolerate it, you can stop.

goseve,
I haven’t tried any of the oral meds due to GERD.

@idlehands and others : If anyone cannot tolerate Tymlos full dose, the pen has "clicks " for dosing (8 clicks is a full dose) and you can go down to two clicks or 4 clicks or whatever dose, and slowly move up. I actually never took a full dose but got up to 7 clicks. My doctor totally approved. Better than quitting.

I'm not sure if anyone ever got the definitive answer on how many clicks short of the max still results in an effective response. I can't find that information anywhere. I doubt it's as low as two or three, but I truly have no idea.
