Why no pain on third injection with Emgality
Hi!
At my first 2 injections with Emgality for migraine, both were rather painful while injecting (pen) in the thighs. Then, after a month, the third injection (also in thigh) was not painful at all. Also there was barely any sign on the skin that a needle entered.
Why is that? Maybe the pen was defective? I followed the steps described for the injection. and I did hear the 2 clicks, the second was after only 4-5 seconds.

I can see why the no pain and no remaining mark from your Emgality shot would be disconcerting. I have noticed in giving myself injections that sometimes it's not visible afterward, and sometimes I get a bruise. I take mepolizumab (Nucala) by this method.
Your question is a really good one for the manufacturer. I had some oddities with an injection I gave myself once, and the manufacturer's call line personnel were very helpful. They also replaced the product for me.
Did you get a chance to ask your doctor or the manufacturer about what happened? If so, what did they say?

thank you for replying.
I did contact my doctor and she said she doesn't believe I should worry about it, and also that the fact that now I felt no pain most probably means I got accustomed to the whole procedure of injecting (?) Also that Panadol Extra will be needed sometimes.
Oh well, I guess I got some comfort, but still I'm not entirely convinced.
I didn't know I can contact the manufacturer about this issue. Good idea, I will look about their call line.

1 ReactionJust a FYI: When I was on monthly Emgality injections for migraine prevention, I would apply an ice bag to my thigh (injection spot) for about 30 minutes.
This would help decrease the pain of the injection.

I did send an enquery to Ely Lilly by email, but they didn't reply. I also called them, but they told me that another company bought Emgality. So I called them too, but was only able to leave a phone message - and that partially, as the phone call was interrupted.
Anyway, probably the neurologist was right and I shouldn't worry much.
