I want to give a big shout out to my oncologist. Dr. Christopher Yasenchak now practices in Eugene, Oregon. But he was first a resident then practiced at Mayo Clinic in Rochester. He has been fondly recalled by a bone marrow transplant nurse, and Dr. Regan [spelling?] who spoke highly of him to me at our mentor conference on 2019. He has been key to my current health status.

I want to thank Dr. Lisa Sproat at Mayo Clinic in Phoenix. A year ago I was seeing a different hematologist oncologist at a different clinic in a different city. He ordered a biopsy that wasn’t necessary. It resulted in a severe chest infection that required a chest surgery to clear the infection. As a result, I no longer could trust that doctor. Dr. Sproat accepted me as a new patient, made the necessary referral for my liver disease and is doing an excellent job keeping my GVHD under control. I am so relieved to have a doctor I can trust and who has my best interest at heart.
I would like to thank Dr. Naveen Periera and his wife Kanaaz for connecting me with a cardiologist at Mayo Clinic and helping me get some answers and treatment for my lymphedema and sleep apnea. I am forever grateful for their kindness and help.
I’ve had three great doctors I’d like to recognize at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville. Dr. Ejigayehu Abate was my first experience with a Mayo doctor and she has always taken the time to answer my many questions and make me feel confident in my care plan. Dr. Jeffrey Janus did a great job with my surgery and the incision on my neck is totally invisible. Dr. Pooja Advani has been so helpful in my care, explaining pertinent information and studies. I’m very grateful to have this team of incredible doctors, as well as the other doctors who support their work in pathology, radiology, and anesthesiology. My thanks to you all!
I would like to thank three remarkable, caring doctors at Mayo Clinic who have offered support and education in the area of neuroendocrine tumors. Dr. Ayse T. Kendi, M.D. who is a Mayo Clinic Radiologist and has provided much needed explanation of tests for NETs. I would also like to thank Dr. Jason Starr, DO. who has been influential in the Jacksonville, FL, online support group for NETs. Finally, Dr. Thorvardur (Thor) R. Halfdanarson, M.D. who has provided many presentations that I have used in the NETs discussion groups on Mayo Connect to help patients understand this rare form of cancer.
Thanks to you all for your dedication to patients!
So many doctors so little time... My eyes are thanking Dr. Sunil S. Khanna who alleviated my fears on cataract surgery along with educating me on the risks and rewards from the surgery. My right knee is thanking Dr. Daniel B. Saris and his team that did my knee replacement and educated me on the importance of icing and elevating during the recovery process. I would also be remiss if I didn't mention all of the nurses and hospital staff who cared for me along the way with compassion, empathy and a little humour.
Dr. Eric Moore is the most dedicated and passionate physician that I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. He embodies the culture and all of the hope that Mayo gives to their patients. He saved my functionality over 5 years ago and he is fighting again with me and my family to keep it, given my cancer has returned. I cannot imagine anyone else at my side during this next journey. I am blessed and so very grateful that my wife's research lead us to Mayo and Dr. Moore! Truly one of a kind.
I have so many and have to recognize the team of Doctors in the Phoenix Arizona Transplant Department, of which I have 5 not in any particular order Dr D Eric Steadley, Dr Julie Rosenthal, Dr Lisa Lemond, Dr Richard Scott, Dr Brian Hardaway and the fine Transplant Surgeon Dr Patrick Devaleria
Of who all at different times have been there to Laught with and especially cry with and all really took the time necessary to care for me thru a very tough time of my Heart Transplant on January 5th 2018 thru many hospital stays as complications arouse. Not a finer set of Doctors who worked together seamlessly and continued to be there when ever I call on them. Mayo has some of the finest people all around who support the patient so well . I especially like the Team approach as the old saying goes there is no "l" in team and the Doctors at Mayo really show how that can be accomplished, even when it uses other departments which I've had my share of a few other Doctors I want to mention who stepped in with there specialty when needed like Dr Justin Lee & Dr John Seeeney in the Cardiology, Dr Brian Woodruff in Neurology, Dr Robert Orenstein& Dr Jaun Banacloche in Infectious Disease, and others who assisted when needed all a great staff of Doctors . God Bless you all for your dedication to your Craft and Really live by the motto "Never Give Up" which is so true as I discovered in Jun of 2019, a pesky virus kept me
In fevers for the better part of 6 weeks and literally they tested every part of my body to find and treat it. So when you run out of places to find out what's wrong! Look at Mayo as they are ready to take a look.
My departed obstetrician Dr James Murray
