Where to take Leuprolide infusion? Arm or stomach?

Leuprolide infusion - arm muscle or stomach muscle. I'm given a choice. Pros and cons of arm or stomach?

I’ve never even heard of somebody wanting to put it in the stomach, That is absurd. I would not trust that you are not going to have side effects from that and it’s not even worth trying. Sounds like somebody that’s used to doing Firmagon.

I’ve had Lupron shots for six years. They were done in my hip every time. I never felt anything after the shot unless I pressed right on the spot where the shot was put in.

I can't speak to Lupron specifically, but getting Firmagon injected under the skin over my abdominal muscles every month was a miserable experience. That's why I was so happy to move on to Orgovyx.

Like Jeff, I received two years of lupron shots in the hip and never had any injection site pain or discomfort.

My husband has gotten Lupron injections for many years. They have always been in his hip. I have never heard of them being put in the arm or stomach, or just under the skin anywhere.

There are many types of Leuprolides - Lupron, Eligard, Prostap, Camcevi, and Lucrin.

> Eligard is usually administered subcutaneously (I had mine injected in my belly - twice);
> Lupron is usually administered intramuscularly.
> I don’t know about the others.

No matter if it’s subcutaneous or intramuscular injection, there are many locations on the body where Leuprolides can be injected.

When Lupron was in low supply A few years ago I had to take Eligard. They gave it to me almost exactly in the same spot they gave me Lupron shots, my hip. Not sure it’s exactly the same but it sure was close.

Sorry about the original post, my choice is indeed hip or arm. I've had 3 Lupron shots so far, in arm muscle, no pain or problem, except that the lump from the shot has not gone away in any of the three shots. doc says not a problem. Should I continue in arm or try the hip?

Yes, they can do it in the hip, arm, butt,….wherever, but one is subcutaneous, the other intramuscular. It’s relatively easy to inject it appropriately most anywhere.

I just recently switched from monthly firmagon to 90 day Lupron shot. My options were butt or arm. I chose my arm. First shot was fine, second time, I couldn't lift my arm for 3 days. Overall, I feel much better on the Lupron so no problem.

Firmagon is different. The others are Leuprolides; Firmagon - though still being an injection - works differently.

The others are LHRH Agonists; Firmagon is an LHRH Antagonist (like Orgovyx). So, its administration compared to Lupron may be different (but similar to Eligard?).
