Where to begin with treatment in or south of Boston

Hello! I am new to the breast cancer group as I just got diagnosed at age 54 with INVASIVE LOBULAR CARCINOMA, NOTTINGHAM GRADE 1 upon moving to the Cape Cod area from NH where I did get diagnosed. I'm in general pretty healthy with exercise and eating healthy. Most of the time I strive to do alternative treatments but realize I need to move quickly with my cancer and also find the best place for treatment and ways to stay healthy and my immune system strong. I am looking for any advise to stay healthy, finding treatments, alternative treatments etc.
Embracing the fact I have cancer is what I am working on to stay positive and feel like I can go through the next steps with ease. Thank you in advance and I appreciate the fact there is a group like this to lean on and learn from.

Dana Faber is where a friend of mine is getting her treatment for IBC. She lives in Plymouth, MA. While the commute into Boston can be trying, Dana Faber is renowned for treating cancers with tremendous success.

Otto Metzger at Dana Farber is an expert on lobular. If I were you I would use a doc who knows a lot about lobular.

Dana Faber is where a friend of mine is getting her treatment for IBC. She lives in Plymouth, MA. While the commute into Boston can be trying, Dana Faber is renowned for treating cancers with tremendous success.

Thank you so much for this message and doctor recommendation. I do have a referral to Dana Farber and am waiting for them to reach out and honestly did not even think to look for a doctor specializing in lobular cancer. I appreciate it!

Hi - I'm from Boston area. 57 yrs and also diagnosed with ILC Stage 1 in Nov 2022. I had a lumpectomy (MGH surgeon) and started radiation at Dana Farber in January (now on Letrozole). Both Dana Farber and MGH have excellent cancer care teams and their satellites can perhaps make it easier for your travel from the Cape. My onco at Dana Farber is not Dr. Metzger but hope that any updates on lobular are shared with their team. I hope the research output will increase on lobular! Good luck!!! You are in good hands.

Thank you so much for this message! I truly is helpful and I do hope you are cancer free. How long did you do radiation for? I am hopeful to see Dr. Metzger at Dana Farber.

Hi! I received 19 radiation treatments - you will learn more about the makeup of your ILC tissue which will guide treatment. You will also learn whether chemo is recommended. All the best and keep us posted!!
