When is the next online meeting? Zoom #

@a009507, the Ostomy support group meeting has temporarily been cancelled until further notice. We hope to start it up again as soon as the team is able.

As you know, you can always ask questions here in the forum. I know it's not the same thing and it's nice to have both. Stay tuned.

In the meantime,

I'm sorry to hear that. The occasional speaker and the opportunity to hear about other people's experiences - both from other ostomates and from the perspective of a WOCN - has been extremely valuable.

As a very new ostomate, I would like to have an in-person support group at the Mayo Clinic itself instead of having it over Zoom. Mayo is where all my doctors are and where I went for all the work related to my cancer and surgeries, so it would be nice to have a support group hosted by them as well.

I am a remote worker, and I deal with Zoom meetings all day. When I am done working, I do not want to have another Zoom meeting for in-person interactions in the same city as me. Having reasons to be in person for local things, especially personal things like an ostomy support group, would be nice.

I tried to attend the Phoenix Ostomy support group, but their website is out of date, and the meeting schedules are alternating between locations and not documented. When I showed up for the documented day, time, and location, no one was there. They are going to get this fixed for the future, but that doesn't help me much now. 😊 If possible, it would be nice to have a reliable, regular monthly support group meeting.

I would love to see Mayo bring it back and make it in person, as it seems it used to be.

I also hope they bring back the monthly meetings sometime soon.

I also hope they keep at least an option to participate by zoom since in-person is not practical for me.

They could do both if they wanted, in person and a Zoom for those who cannot make it in person or live outside the city, maybe even in another state.

That is great. Unfortunately, it would cost me too much to fly to Wisconsin from Phoenix, and emailing them to get a virtual link would defeat my purpose as I am looking for monthly, in-person, support groups, so the Zoom version of that Wisconsin one would not work out for me.

I appreciate the invitation. However, I am in Zoom all day for work; I don't want to be in Zoom when I am done with work. I would like to go outside, touch some grass (or rocks and dirt where I am), and talk to people in person. There has been too much Zoom in the last 4 years for me I am really trying to reduce it where I can.

With respect to the Phoenix Mayo group, when I started attending in 5/23, they did host the meeting in a conference room that had some in-person attendees.

Although Candy continued to host meetings in a conference room, no one was in-person for the last couple of meetings before it was suspended in 5/24.

I presume when they resume they could continue to host in a conference room so people can attend in person if they want. But the Phoenix campus is not particularly convenient. It is ~ 1-1/2 hour drive each way, and can be much longer during rush hour. So while I can sympathize with you, for me zoom is more practical.
