When can I expect bruising to stop after my total shoulder replacement

Posted by daveyjanes @daveyjanes, Nov 7, 2025

I am literally blue and yellow (with some pain) from my neck to my wrist. Anyone have this experience and if so, how long did it last? Also, a keloid scar seems to be forming at the incision site. I am only 10 days post op so perhaps this will resolve naturally but wondering if anyone has any home remedies to mitigate keloid scar formation?

Mine took many months to go away

How far along are you since surgery . Dry needling definitely helped me with ny tight muscles but can’t be used til incision is healed, explain what you are feeling to your PT they should be able to help.

At 10 days, the scar will still look pretty ugly, and bruising will take at least a month to fade, there is a lot of tissue damage there that has to be naturally "flushed out" by the slow workings of the repair cells. Eventually my rTSR scar became just a faint hairline that no one even notices under swimwear or tank tops. It just takes time.
These are pictures at 8 days out and 5 weeks out from surgery. My scar is now just a very thin hairline of whiter skin, nothing puckered or raised.

That is super reassuring. Thanks!
