What's up with the pain medication
I'm not sure if any members are experiencing this butI am. I am a chronic pain patient. I'm seen for back pain a long with many other issues.
I get a prescription for morphine , used twice a day for 30 days. That medication has been out of stock for over two months here. I also have had problems with 10/325 hydrocodone. They limit my prescriptions to 120 per month. It's also difficult to get. Is anyone else experiencing these issues? Please advise.

Sounds exactly like my life . I want different meds because my system has just gotten used to them but pain management says he can't switch me ... Why? Too much paperwork for him ? I have Occipital Neuralgia( shoots into my head) and also so much arthritis in my neck. Dr did give me C7-T1 RFA's for my Facet Syndrome that is killing me. In Dec I had that. Now my Thoracic is bothering me and want to see if he'll give me a RFA into that area as I had one done 2023. Drugs ..wish Marijuana would help but just doesn't .. had a really bad whiplash when I was 17 and now at 69 ..holy. Also had 3 neck fusions which helped .. I'm stuck at home too .... something has to changed ..
Sorry. It was C2-T1 ..
Beautifully said!
Do you go to a pain specialist. That's a high dose of Norco and that is probably why you can't get more.
Wow. Thanks for the comment szeszko1940.
It sounds like you have been through the gamete of treatments. I sympathize with you.
Im stuck at home for good now. I haven't had nearly the procedures that you have been through. Im scheduled for a lumbar RFI
in a couple of weeks. Ths is the 18th RFI since 2019. Sometimes they give me a little relief, sometimes not. I've had three neurosurgeons look at my mri's and tell me I need surgery. The insurance will not approve my lumbar back surgery, so I'm stuck. We have tried the appeal process, and that's a joke. I wonder if the neurosurgeons are in deep with the insurance companys.
Its like the reasons why they keep doing the scs surgery. They make a lot of money from them.
Ive had numerous patients say they tried the scs, and end up like me.having the scs removed. I have numerous disk ruptures, severere spinal stenosis
In my lumbar spine. In addition I have two herniated discs in my cervical spine. I take opiates now instead of a spine surgery.
I think the only way I'll get pain relief is for me paying for the surgery myself. It will deal my retirement a hit, but if I get some pain relief it will be worth it.
Im sure marijuana helps, but its still illegal in Texas. The 'reds' are destroying the country.
Enough of that, everyone should stop the bad meds and do more of a complete research for weed. I know it helped me in my early years. ( The 70's and eighties). I did start a couple of procedures, ( injections and pain patches.)
To get through this bump in the road.
I wonder how many people are going through this as well? I do not see this getting any better for me. How do you know when to stop treatment? I mean, since I lived through a reverse total shoulder replacement, spine surgery can not be worse than that. It was also bad because my shouder surgeon forgot to order pain medicationfor after my my surgery. The nursing staff were not that conserned about my pain. Never again will I use this hospital, or the doctor in the future.
Linda6101 thank you for the comment. Of course I am in pain management with very experienced physicians. That's why I see a specialist. The hydrocodone is not only for my back and neck. I have plenty of other maladies that are a concern as well.
I didn't go into the clinic asking for pain meds. The doctors put me on this regimen. I have not deviated from these scripts at all. I've been at this pain clinic for 9 years now. It's working for me,until I can convince my medicare advantage company to have back surgery.
Had 2 back surgeries that failed. I too take Norco but 5 mg 4x a day, along with gabapentin, tyzanidine, nortriptyline, wellbutrin and valium. Sometimes suffer from depression from this pain. I was told they go hand in hand. Been on meds for 10 years. I had a minimally evasive surgery in October called a Laminectomy for spinal stenosis. It didn't help the pain and now additionally have neuropathy in both legs. Surgeon said to do exercises and join a gym. How do you walk on a treadmill when you're in pain! Had a failed fusion 10 years ago and haven't been the same since and live alone. I heard of a new drug called Journovx on line. It's a non-opioid drug. I'm going to meet with my specialist on Wednesday. Maybe this will be the answer to my prayers. I hate being limited to what I can do. I wish better luck with your surgery. I'm sure all have not failed like mine did.
Yes, Journovx has tremendous potential. It's new and availability is probably limited. Here's the website:https://www.journavx.com/
Please keep us updated. I'm interested, too.
Best of the day to you.
I see my pain specialist on Wednesday. Going to ask about Journavx. Hope insurance covers it. I printed the $30 copay coupon from the website. Having a bad day with neuropathy today. Could be the weather. Need to grocery shopping but can't get off the recliner. Giving it a couple hours. Watching a video on U tube about how lemons help damaged nerves. I'll try anything.
