Whats up with my gut

Posted by januaryjane @januaryjane, Nov 22, 2019

Im not the happiest person right now as my gut is flaring. Ive been having gas, yellow/brown on and off diarrhea, low grade fevers and passing clumps of what I assume is mucus with bm or alone. Just had an upper scope, which is fine, but dont have biopsies back. Not sure its a gut virus, been going on for awhile. Anyone know about mucus in the stool? I told gastro, seemed unimpressed and put me on omeprizal. Dont have the follow up appt for over 3 weeks. Im so tired, just wanting to rest and sleep. Im supposed to go on vacation, which never happens, and Im really bummed. Not sure what to do.

I’m so glad I came across your post. I’m not have the same problem as you are but my gut is a issue.
Let me ask you a question. I have a hiatal hernia and my gut never feel well. The other day I weighed myself and it read 240 I say how I can’t eat. Everything stops right at my rib cage.
I’m on probiotics so I can stay regular I don’t eat dairy as of yesterday I stop eating chicken salad because I make it with mayo which I love.I stop by eating at 7. I drink water all day. I don’t know what to do. Today I sat in my chair and nibbled on peanuts. I always feel like I have a belly full of gas. Anyone else having this type of problem.

If you weigh 240 pounds, it sounds like you're overweight. That can certainly cause acid reflux, (especially if you have a hiatal hernia) which will give you the feeling you describe "everything stops right at my rib cage". Are you taking any acid reflux medication? The most important thing is to lose weight, and you might need to take some medication (such as pepcid) until you lose the weight. (Or, you can take Tums or the like.) Look up on the internet a low acid diet (such as no coffee and chocolate). I find eating peanuts is hard to digest and gives me a bloated feeling, so you might consider trying to eat a balanced diet with fruits, vegetables, and more easily digestible foods (eggs, oatmeal, apples, chicken...). You can keep a record of what you eat and what foods make you feel worse.

All you say is correct. Some things I do need to change. I’m not. Overweight. I should have mention that I stand 5 ‘9 so Weight is not a factor. Yes I could loss a few pound but that’s not the case.

I did not realize that peanuts could be one of my problems if so I’m stoping now. I think one of my concern was and is the size of my stomach but I could make some changes.

Another problem is with a hernia acid fruit hurt I live on chicken and veggies. I also have to keep in mind that this just started and now I’m trying to figure out what to change.

Thank you very much.

I had similar symptoms for a long time & was finally diagnosed with gastroparesis by a gastric emptying test that took me 4 hours to complete & diagnosed with lactose intolerance…. Had to completely change my diet & I walk a lot after eating to help with emptying my stomach & digestive tract….enzymes and probiotics have helped also!
