What Type of Doctor do you see
I was wondering if most of you see an Endocrinologist or Rheumatologist? I was seeing an Endocrinologist then went to a Bone Fracture Service my local hospital offers as part of their ortho department and a NP is the one I see. She has given me more information than the endocrinologist ever did .

Thank you, I am going to try and research if we have anything like that here. I am 50 minutes north of Bostin in New Hampshire.
You are in such a great area for help, I think Mass General and Brigham and Women’s are excellent
Thank you, I do have an appointment in October that I have been waiting for a while with an Endocrinologist with Brigham's Women.
I see a Rheumatologist who is part of a group. Osteoporosis is one of their specialties. They also have an infusion center that is part of the practice for infusions and injectable meds. Furthermore they acknowledge and are proactive re: the side effects of Reclast and the other meds and on discharge they have instructions to call them and a list of meds they will prescribe or OTC meds for the various side effects. Fortunately I had minimal side effects.
I live in WNC, two hours north of Charlotte. Searching for a endocrinologist soon. Just got diagnosed with osteoporosis.
Just diagnosed. What type of doctor to see is confusing. My General Practitioner wants me on meds, but does not seem to know as much as I do about all the drugs as I am fairly well read, especially with this connect chat. What's acceptable for the individual with other health challenges is my main concern and the side affects. I tried in my 40ies Fosamax, Boniva and developed Osteonecrosis {jaw pain} with Actonel. So, I am fearful of any. Some drugs have not had testers who developed ONJ, but other side effects are upsetting to think about. Open to recommendations for doctor suggestions.
I would see an endocrinologist. I would not trust a primary care doctor to know much about this. If there's a medical center near you which specializes in osteoporosis, more the better. I spent a lot of time doing Google searches. 🙂
