What to do for dislocated lens in back of the eye
I have been informed by my regular ophthalmologist that the intraoccular lens in my left eye has become dislocated and migrated to the back of my eye (adjacent to my retina). He said I should contact a retinal surgeon for removal and repositioning of the lens. I have a history of retinal detachments in my left eye (3) and had to have a scleral buckle put in about 18 years ago. I am trying to learn about what treatment I should seek and if this is something any retinal surgeon should be able to do. Currently I have very little vision in my left eye and when I stand up I lose almost all vision in this eye for several seconds even though I do not get dizzy or lose any vision in my right eye. My ophthalmologist said this was not an overly urgent situation but that I should get treatment in the next several weeks. I feel I should act more quickly than this but do not know the level of urgency. I am interested in hearing from anyone else who has experienced this or has ideas for how to proceed.

I would make the reservation with the surgeon as your doctor told you. ASAP
I understand what you’re saying, as our eyesight is very precious to our normal.
I have something going on in my eye as well and it scared me. I still don’t know very much and I hope to see the doctor the end of the month or April.
I wish you the very best and good luck
This is what I would do...
I would ask your ophthalmologist for the name of the 3 best retinal surgeons in your area. If you live near a well regarded academic medical center, I might start there. Hopefully at least one of the surgeons can see you quickly. I sounds urgent to me since it's near the retina.
