What to do?

Posted by whiteswan @whiteswan, Jul 18 5:00pm

May be somebody can help me with an advice.
Osteoporosis, Prolia 10 years, alendronate ( can not tolerate it because of problems with intestine) ,Reclast twice, it does not work for me, then Forteo, about $700 and I can not tolerate it. Chronic every minute headache, chronic insomnia, Tymlos is known for insomnia and headache too, to buy I need to pay about $900. It is not money, I am not rich , but with fracture I would pay more, it is insomnia every night for me.
what to do ?

Im sorry that you are having these difficulties. For what it’s worth, I’ve used Tymlos 3 months and have had no headaches and no insomnia. Sending you wishes for relief.

I started taking it first thing in the morning which helped with insomnia.

I got bad headaches on Tymlos. I went down to 4 clicks (half dose) and headaches went away in 2 weeks. When I try to go to more clicks I get headaches. I think it is best to take two hours before bedtime, because if I lay down too soon my heart races and I can't sleep. I react to almost all meds.

Are you saying $900 total or per month?

@whiteswan, Ugh, how unfortunate x 2.

Re: the cost, there is a $2100 cap on medications and after that you pay nothing (but that doesn't help the insomnia or headache!)

@babs10Thank you. It is not money. It is my ability do not tolerate all medicines. My endocrinologist told me that may be I will return to Prolia because of this but I do not want. It was so difficult to go away from Prolia and Prolia did not work for me in the end of 10 years.

@whiteswan, I get it. My TBA score came back as "degraded" so I really need to give careful thought to my next steps. I don't want to take ANYTHING for so many reasons, but the side effects from fracturing is overwhelmingly scary to me and that will force the issue.

If you have drug coverage through work, not Medicare, ask if they have a specialty pharmacy program. If so , your cost may be zero. This is for high cost drugs, not income dependent.
