What is this under my tongue?

Posted by SeekingHelp @worriedone, Feb 7 4:16pm

This started right b4 I had a tonsillectomy, 3 months ago. I had a cat scan that came back normal. Seen 2 ENTs that said its nothing to worry about. Its somewhat bothersome. Its like a tiny white head/pimple under my tongue. I also have some irritation fr my lingual tonsil area thats slightly sore. Curious as to what this can be?

Tiny pimple that is under my tongue ~

Hi,
That's too bad that you have that little irritating sore under your tongue. That can be so bothersome! I'm 79 and have various sores in my mouth similar to what you have over the years. What worked well for me was to rinse my mouth with Listerine mouthwash; the original flavor not any of the new flavored ones. They don't work as well. The Listerine will take the pain away and seems to heal the sore. After I used it for about a week, the sore would be gone. The other thing that works well is to rinse your mouth with hot salt water. Make it very salty because it's the salt that does the work. It works much like the Listerine. It takes the pain away and also heals the sore. I have used both of these for at least 70 years with good results. My Mom used to have me use one or the other when I was young and had a mouth sore. If we were out of Listerine then Mom would give me the salt water. We didn't live near a store and Mom couldn't drive a car. It was the 1950's. Many woman didn't drive in the 1950's. I never had a bad effect from either the Listerine or the salt water. I hope they help you.

@worriedone
I would also say warm salt water. If you have had scans and seen doctors, I think you can rest easy. I have these from time to time and use that treatment.
I'm thinking that your tonsillectomy has cause irritation. While the mouth usually heals quickly, if you're healing from surgery it could take longer for something to clear up.
Of course if there are more changes, go back to your doctors!

I’ve been dealing with a tongue blood vessel “leak” for nearly 3 yrs post surgery. Clots in 2 to 3 minutes with gauze pressure. Am also looking for an answer too—it won’t go away.

Will up my salt water rinses. Oncologist suggests considering radiology quad shots, but I don’t want any more radiation—I’m at my limit. We’ll see how it goes.
