I am interested to learn different views of the length of hormone treatment. most urologists ask for 18 months for gleason 8 etc. isthere another view?

I am 24-month program of Leuprolide & Abiraterone for biochemical recurrence that had a PSA of 19. My surgery 11 years ago had a GS7 (3+4). I'm 12 months in so far, and so far, so good.

Gleason 9. Xtandi for 2 years and ADT for 3 1/2. Cancer free for 4 years. PSA went up to 1.1. Then 2.8. Got radiation treatment. 5 sessions only. Culprit was a left para aortic lymph node. Started ADT and Xtandi again, PSA down to 0.06 after just 5 weeks. Feel tired . Some memory issues. I am planning to be on ADT and Xtandi for as long as it takes to keep me going. When we have cancer, everything is down to response. How the disease responds to treatment. That’s the key. Long live to all of you. Keep believing. 71 now. Diagnosed at 65.

Gleason 8. Treated with radiation.

Hormone treatment seems to be forever if the cancer has metastased. My onco team hasn't mentioned any plans to stop my Firmagon+Erleada to see what happens.

Agreed. My health team indicated that I get to the end of my treatment plan (24 months) and PSA is still less than 0.1, then I can go off the treatment, but if the PSA comes back, then the first plan of action is to go back on treatment.

I'm sorry to hear about the heart attack and hope you are doing much better. I monitor my heart rate every few days (I used to it daily and should resume that). Wishing you a safe and enjoyable entry into the new year.

I was DX with PC 11/21 with 3+4. RARP 1/21/22 with positive margin on right side and a small spot found on a rib. Started Lutron 3/22 then every 3 months. PSA dropped quickly to negligible and has remained negligible. Now look forward to last shot 3/24 and hoping the hot flashes and muscle loss will slowly subside.
Seems PC is a world of variables so buckle up for the ride and keep fighting with all the weapons you and doc’s can find.
Good Speed to you and all our brothers.

Taking Orgovyx daily, since May 2022. Gleason 8, stage 3 prostate cancer. I will continue taking indefinitely till PSA starts back.
