What does Delayed Gastric Emptying mean?
Have had nausea for 4 years straight. After many tests had a (NM Gastric Emptying Study) that showed the following:
FINDINGS:
Transit of radiopharmaceutical is seen from the stomach into the small bowel. The time of half emptying (T1/2) was calculated
to be 72 minutes.
Reference normal T1/2 values for gastric emptying of oatmeal are as follows:
Age 20-40: 10-60 min
Age 40-60: 10-40 min
Age 60-80: 10-30 min
Haven't talked to doctor yet. Does anyone have any idea what the above finding mean? It seems to me this may be the reason for my chronic nausea. Thanks, and any input or insight would be appreciated.

93 % at 1 hour (normal 30- 90%)
66 % at 2 hours (normal < 60%)
40 % at 3 hours (normal < 30%)
17 % at 4 hours (normal < 10%)
This is what my result looked like ,
And my Doctor had no concern even though I couldn't hold food down. And was in pain every time anything was placed into my stomach.

I've been having nausea, stomach ache, feeling of a distended stomach for months now. Domperidone is not really helpful.
The report says:
"In both visual assessment and quantitative evaluation of the series SPECT, a slow, though not significantly delayed, gastric emptying is observed in the early phase as well as over time."
"Gastric emptying to half of the initial value is achieved shortly before the cutoff threshold of 90 minutes, which is considered pathological."
My T1/2 was 78.89
"A half-emptying time of 18–73 minutes after a porridge test meal is considered normal"
Emptying times:
30 min : 88.66
60min: 60.67
90min: 43.44
120min: 33.52
150: 29.26
240min: 2.2
I get that it's considered normal. Still I'm having daily SYMPTOMS.
The t1/2 is slightly abnormal.
Could that explain my nausea?

Are you also having symptoms other than nausea, mogs1?
