What do people do for chronic neuropathic pain?
What do people do/take that is helpful for chronic neuropathic pain? This is going on for 2 years and has gotten worse, and is pretty unbearable.

What has your doctor recommended if anything? I'm taking 3600mg of gabapentin and 1200mg of alpha lipoic acid for the pain in my feet. There is no cure, just treatment for the symptoms, and at best it only dulls the pain and numbness. We're stuck with this for the rest of our lives.
Gabapentin 900 mg at bedtime, Tylenol (620 mg/tab arthritis strength) with dosage max of 3200 mg spread throughout the day with one reserved for bedtime. As I've mentioned in another comment elsewhere, I'm now working with a PT who specializes in neuro problems. Working on my core to strengthen my back and get me standing up straight again, so my legs can function more normally. Absolutely marvelous. This PT is totally different from other PTs I've worked with. The PT is very gradual, and very directed. It has brought relief from pain that I didn't think possible. One difference is that the pain is mainly from osteoarthritis, not from neuropathy. But as my balance has improved, I'm more confident, and walking is easier, thus easing the effects of the neuropathy.

2 Reactions@mrmacabre so true
I just read about the FootRenew Triple Method Massager. Is this just another scam device? Has anyone in this group used it? If so, has it been helpful?
Thanks, Joel in Flagstaff
I was recently diagnosed with sensorimotor poloyneuropahty and have been prescribed a low dose of Lyrica (pregabalin) 50 mg 3 x daily. I started this 9/26/25 and it has just begun kicking in. There is some relief. I'm thinking the neurologist will increase the dosage when returning for follow up visit in November. My blood test indicated a high level of B6, double the normal range, which could be the cause of the nephropathy. I don't take anything with b6 vitamins. It's very curious to me.
I wish you luck.

Gabapentin 300 mg in A.M. 300 mg at 5 P.M. . It works for me. I guess that I am just lucky. It didn't work for my mother at a higher dose.
@mrmacabre
How did you find a PT who "specializes" in neuro problems? A reply would very helpful. Thanks Paul
@mrmacabre .try looking up what vitamin B12 does besides making blood cells. Then look up why alcohol stops B12 absorption.
Worked for my trigeminal neuralgia.
Off alcohol permanently now.
Good luck.
