What do I need to know before taking Boniva?

I finished my year on Evenity in June and then had to have a tooth pulled so have not had any bone meds since June. My GYN has recommended Boniva. I am very concerned about the side affects , particularly to my esophagus and stomach. I have a small hiatal hernia and very frequent heart burn. I am also 3 months post radiation and chemotherapy for anal cancer and I have just found out that I am at high risk for a cardiac event. Boniva seems like another drug that will domino into a bigger problem. Does anyone have any advice, I'm totally lost and all my physicians seem to push my questions on to another specialist.
