What can I drink that is not irritating?

I need to drink fluids and am having a hard time finding something that is not irritating. Any suggestions?

@goldenshadow Thank you. I will try those. Coffee and tea with lemon is no longer an option.

Depends where you are on your EC journey..

Doing neoadjuvant treatments?

Post treatments but waiting on esophagectomy?

Are you recently post-esophagectomy?

Are you doing adjuvant treatments now?

What is being irritated... your esophagus? Your stomach? Your new stomaphagus?

What meds are you taking for any conditions you have... PPIs? Gaviscon? Antibiotics? Steroids? Type 2 diabetes?

@mrgvw Thank you. So many helpful people. I am not a candidate for esophagectomy. I'm doing chemo and radiation. I'm getting very dehydrated. I'm not sure what is getting irritated. General pain (not intolerable) in the lower stomach with some accompanying nausea. I'm "pre-diabetic."
I did try glucerna in the morning and taking prilosec before eating or drinking anything and that seems to help.

Hi. I don't have much of a choice. I drink lots of water. I know, boring lol. I also have coffee, tea, hot chocolate, Boost, flavored water (non carbonated), iced juices (no citric. IF I did drink I would have tried a light beer. I don't know the outcome. Hope this helps.

Propel drinks and Welch’s Strawberry peach drink mixes are the only two I have found that doesn’t give me heartburn. My body can tolerate coffee it does not taste, right.

I cannot tolerate anything, carbonated as it causes an over abundance of bubbly phlegm

I am six years post surgery for stage four esophageal cancer

Please post online. If you find anything else you can drink as it is a struggle for me.

Best wishes

@lleigh Thank you for the suggestions. I can tolerate glucerna well and I found a dry mix that you add 8 oz of water to in the blender. I add pieces of fresh fruit to it and it's not bad.
Carbonated drinks are horrible for me as well.
Congrats on being 6 years post surgery!

@doglover888 Can you recommend some flavored waters? I tried Hint but that didn't work out too well. The flavors made me nauseous after awhile. Gatorade is good but it has too much sodium.

@jeahunt12 I haven't tried it. I will look into it though because I really miss that first cup of coffee in the morning.
