What brought you joy today?

If you've been living with cancer for a while, you know it's not all gloom and doom. Where did you find joy today? I'll start:

1. Working in my garden.
2. Meeting my daughter for tea.
3. Home-made pizza for dinner.
4. My spouse (always).
5. Some interesting online discussions.
6. Rereading a good novel.

Having my property management company to pay for motel room overnight while repairs are done.
Because of the cancer and the dust associated with the repairs.
In today’s world there ARENT many good who care.

Today: breakfast with one of my former roommates from the physio Rehab Centre. We supported each-other through some tough times for a month and a half. He brought joy and enthusiasm to every day, including the ones where I had trouble finding them.

What gives me joy.
1. Enjoying food from our garden.
2. Played golf yesterday.
3. Went for a hike.
Three things I thought I would never do after my surgery 6 months ago.
( I had kidney removed)

What brought me joy today?
Feeling awesome the day after chemo with two new targeted to my cancer drugs, and sudden ability to swallow fluid and even creamy soup which represents the first food by mouth since like Memorial Day. So today I’m joyful and what’s more., hopeful. If I feel strong enough and pain free enough to metal detect the woods for colonial era artifacts, I’ll be even more joyful. My last attempt was a let down due to spinal tumor pain.
So I’m joyful and also grateful.

Music brings me Joy.

Listening, playing, or both?

I inherited my grandfather's classic-music albums from the 1950s and 60s, and I love putting one of them on the turntable and listening, pops, scratches, and all. We lost him in 1977, but when I play them I feel like he's sitting with me.

I also inherited by grandfather's love for playing classical music, and now that I can sit up again after recovering from the cancer damage to my spine, that brings me joy almost every day.

1. Thank you note from a friend.
2. Receiving funny and sweet heartfelt letters from a friend’s kids who became my pen pals 4 years ago when my cancer returned. Priceless!
3. Watching a hummingbird enjoy nectar.
4. Putting together a puzzle passed on to me by a friend.
5. A phone call from an out-of-state friend.
